Pureed Stage One Week Early

Recommended Posts

I was intentionally told that I need to do a two week full liquid diet after surgery. I am two days from a week and I am SO sick of brother I could scream. Half the time I don't even eat it because I am so sick of it. I see my surgeon tomorrow and have every intention on asking him to let me start the pureed stage a week early. Has anyone ever experienced this and their surgeon let them start early?

I had my surgery on a Wednesday. Went for my post op the next Tuesday and was told to go to puréed foods for two weeks. Then go to solids.

I was a bad girl and didn't ask - I just did it. I was very careful to stop when I felt full. I have no ill effects from it. After I did that, I did not feel the need to advance past what the doctor has recommended. I just wasn't getting full from the liquid diet.< /p>

I am on soft foods at the moment and have another week and a half before I am cleared for "everything else".

I am six days post op and I tried some puréed chicken salad today. Only had about 3 bites but I don't want to start bad habits early. No bad reactions and oh so tasty. I can't not do shakes they make me so gassy.

I feel like I will need to go to pureed, at least to have eggs. Cause these shakes are making me nauseous. I have tried to stick to plan, but something has got to give. I am open to any feedback.

I was only on liquids in the hospital. I was on purees as soon as I got home. That was the worst week of my 37 years. Purees suck. Lol. Then soft solids for a month. After that general diet.

What are you getting to eat on the soft diet?

I get the frustration. Tomorrow will be 28 days on Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes (pre and post op). I am having to gag them down. I see posts on here from vets who say they drink Protein shakes and I think how can they even look at one? I want so much to get to the next step.

I was on liquids two full weeks before to two full weeks after. then pureed and soft for two weeks. today, I get solid food as I'm at 4 weeks post op. I actually am keeping some of the Protein powder and liquid in my diet. I enjoy the chicken Soup one from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and I like my morning coffee (decaf) with milk, Water, and Protein. I drink that over several hours for my Breakfast and am quite happy with it.

I agree the thing I wanted the most was the eggs. I am glad to be on pureed foods now but the scale quit moving.

Well on puree you can have Beans, yogurt and other overly processed foods. You can even have eggs. Well I made mines extra runny and I only had one.

My focus is on healthy eating, and not on weight loss. I want to focus on this being healthy and doing all i can to keep the calories low. The weight is going to melt off.

My doc had me on soft foods after one week and regular foods after 2 weeks and it was fine. Just have to take it slow and easy when you switch to a regular diet. No problem going from liquids to softs except I couldn't tolerate eggs (Protein too dense) for several weeks and couldn't eat salads (???) or any Pasta (even in soup) for a couple months. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
