Hello everyone. I was sleeved on Monday 9/8/14 and my recovery has been pretty good. My starting weight was 250 I didn't have to do a long liquid diet before surgery so I've only lost like 5 pounds from the 4 days I havnt been eating. My goal weight is 170

The only thing that is really hurting me are the gas pains. I'm just constantly nauseous and sore and I can't sleep.

I am having a lot of nerves that all started the day before surgery. I'm so happy but I keep getting very stressed and just crying out of nowhere I'm just scared I guess mainly about being in pain any longer. I got it still I just would love someone who also had this surgery around a younger age like myself or anyone really to let me know if there are any tricks to making these gas pains go away. They make it so I can't sleep. Also if you know about how long the pains last such as soreness or the sharp pain from rotating my body too much. I am on oxy and some anti nausea which helps a bit but not all together

Xoxo

Hey Maddy....

Yeah the gas pains were uncomfortable....Thats from all the gas they blow us up with in the ER....I did what I could of walking up and down the hall slowly...I was told to get liquid Tylenol Extra Strength which to be honest I felt fine with that more than with the pain meds.....It seems like it took a few days to get over that....The tears, we just had someone else with that topic....You are gonna find you are more emotional too....You won't know why, frustration, irritation, just plain pissed off at the world, but remember you just went through a major surgery and hormones are gonna be screwy for a while....This will all even out some after you've healed a bit and if it doesn't I would call your doc. But give this some time too. Hey, my neighbors dog was just lucky I felt like crap and couldn't walk fast or I woulda shoved his toy ball in his nose for barking all day, I got very touchy....Relax this is truly worth it and you will forget what you're going thru now until you read a message like what you have written then it all come flyin back at'cha.....

Hang in there...I'm here usually late if ya need a shoulder.... :D

Thanks so much for your kind words. Do you remember how many days it was for you till the gas pains got better? I feel like everywhere I read it says 2-3 days and I feel like it has to last longer than that.

Nope 5 at the most...It kind of depends on your system....Kinda personal but, if you can pass gas that helps, don't hold it in...And you gotta relax your self to let your body do what it needs to do to pass that gas....Make sense??? Just like if you know ya gotta pee but it helps to hear Water run cuz it relaxes you....Breath deeply, walk around....I still have to walk around after I eat because feel sickish for a bit....Sip on your water.....a warm shower maybe....See what works for you but if its too long seriously call your doc....

Okay good to know. Yeah walking has actually been harder since I have been home I think it has to do with recieving less pain medication. Is it better to do small walks throughout the day like just a couple walks back and forth from the bed or is it better to wait and just do like 30 minutes walking straight

I had to walk every few hours to prevent blood clots in the legs so my dad would wake me up and make me do my "walk abouts" as he called them....But walking, like I said up and down our hall way was my start then I walked around the house, I just kept pushing myself....Now I walk all over school campus and my hip joints hurt but thats a whole other thing....You do have to push yourself a little but don't hurt yourself.....The insicion that hurt the worst was where they pulled the drain tube out and the same one was where they removed the leftover stomach piece....hurt like hell....I held my left side every time I tried to stand up....but once I got moving I was good....You just had your surgery so take it easy but don't let your legs get those clots either....

Keep on movin Sister!!! ^_^

Thank you so much for your great words of advice. I just got up and walked around a bit and was finally given some relief through burping. Also I'm trying a heating pad on my stomach and that seems to be helping a lot

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
