So this is all becoming very real. I have been in the midst of appointments for the last 3 months to prepare all the necessary paperwork to meet with my surgeon today to prepare for submitting to the insurance company After completing the psych eval, nut appts, sleep study, blood work and letter of support from my doctor, I finally met with my surgeon this morning.
I am scheduled for October 21st. I am excited, scared, happy, nervous and a bunch of other emotions.
I am praying there are no issues with the insurance. I have BC BS Empire. I was 39.2 BMI in May when I first started this process and since i quit smoking in June (been smoking since I was 15 and am 39) I put on 10 pounds which put me at a BMI of 40.5 now. So if they just look at my current I should be good but not sure how all that works.
My insurance does not require 6 months of weigh ins or supervised diet.
If anyone have any advice, feedback or words of wisdom for this journey please feel free to share.
My next steps are pre-op tests, upper gastro scope, Clinical nurse Specialist visit and medical clearance appt with my PCP.
Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.
