  1. I stayed two nights - went in on a Tuesday morning and went home around lunchtime on that Thursday. My surgeon requires all VSG patients to stay two nights to monitor nausea issues. I fortunately did not have any except for one time when they gave me some pain medicine in the middle of the night, but I still had to stay both nights. I was thankful for that.
  2. I was sleeved 9/16, and I also feel like I am losing slowly...but like you guys said, slow and steady is better Starting weight: 264 Surgery weight: 253 Current weight: 232 I know I shouldn't pay attention much to the scale, and I wish I would have taken my measurements so I could also track inches lost. I've already had one stall on the scale, but my clothes are definitely looser. I'm putting off buying new clothes as long as I can though... don't want to spend a whole lot of money on clothes that I won't be wearing very long. You guys are doing great!
  3. I am almost 6 weeks post-op, and I feel hungry if I don't eat every 2-3 hours. However, it doesn't take much at all to make me feel full...just a few bites of something, and I'm good to go. I try to eat 5-6 small meals/snacks a day. If I stick to that, I don't feel hungry. It's just when I get busy with work or something else and get off schedule that I feel hungry.
  4. Hi, everyone!! I am 4 days post-op...had my sleeve done on Sept. 16. I am feeling great about my decision, and my only complaint is these stupid gas pains. Omg, sometimes they take my breath away! I have been walking and sipping all day. I don't feel hungry, but I am looking forward to the next phase of foods - pureed. I have to be on liquids for 2 weeks before I move on. Right now, I'm okay with that! I hope everyone who got sleeved this past week is doing well!

    Cigna questions

It all depends on your particular policy. I have CIGNA, and I had to undergo 89+ days (3 months) of being under a doctor-supervised weight loss regimen. I think most CIGNA policies are 3 months, but some do vary. If you are getting two different answers, I would call again and make sure. I would also have your clinic call and verify, which they should do anyway. Once I met all their requirements (doctor visits, nutritionist visits, psychiatrist, exercise evaluation, etc.), my paperwork was submitted, and I was approved within three business days. However, I have heard of some policies taking up to a month to make a decision. Good luck to you!!
  6. I am so excited and anxious I can't stand it! I had a chest x-ray yesterday, and that was the final piece my clinic needed before sending everything off for pre-cert with my insurance. I am hoping to have my surgery in September, so fingers crossed! Anyone have any experience with CIGNA and what their personal turnaround time was? My clinic says it generally 2 weeks, but it would be awesome to know others' personal experiences. Thanks!
  7. That is SO exciting! Congratulations!!!

    WLS Tracker

You don't sound stupid...I didn't know how until last week Go to the top of your screen, and when you hover over your name, it should give you a "More Options" button. If you click on it, you can select "Tickers" and create your ticker and have it added to your signature. Hope that helps!
  9. I had gained a little during my 89+ days. My weight on my very first visit was 259, and it fluctuated up and down, getting as high as 268 (that was a different office and a different scale though). At my last visit before pre-cert papers were sent off, my weight was 262. CIGNA approved me within 3 business days I was SO worried that I would be denied because of the weight fluctuations, but I was approved. Good luck to you!!
  10. ...and I am freaking starving! Someone tell me this will get easier over the next few days. I'm doing Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch, lean meat and veggies for dinner, and two Snacks of low-fat yogurt, string cheese, or carrot sticks in between meals. And of course, lots of Water. I know this is only temporary, but I was so hungry today I craved things I normally wouldn't. I hope these next two weeks fly by!
  11. Thanks, guys! I am still a little in shock! lol

    Will Cigna cover me?

I have CIGNA, and those were exactly my requirements. I had my paperwork submitted at the end of last week, and I got the call today that CIGNA approved me to have the sleeve. You just need to call and make sure your particular plan does include bariatric surgery.

    Sleep study

woo woo gave you a great breakdown. That's exactly what mine was like. I had a hard time sleeping though because I couldn't lay on my side like I usually do. However, it really wasn't that bad. Good luck if you have it done!!
  14. UPDATE: I got the call today - APPROVED!! I was so excited I couldn't concentrate on my work today lol. I couldn't believe the quick turnaround time, considering yesterday was a holiday. But it still felt like I was waiting for an eternity!!! OMG, I still can't believe it! Sept. 16th is my date!!

    September Sleevers!

Hi, everyone! I am scheduled as of now for Sept. 16, but I am still waiting on my pre-cert to be approved. It was submitted at the end of last week. I REALLY hope my insurance approves me - I will be devastated if they do not. I've already started my pre-op diet, and I am just SO excited to have this done! The waiting is killing me LOL
  17. Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I do hope it gets easier, but at least I know it's just temporary. Tonight's dinner of "real" food was the best dinner ever! LOL I cannot wait to be over this hump and move on to a new chapter!
  18. Really? Only 3 days?? I could only hope to be so lucky! Based on when I had my chest x-ray, I am guessing my pre-cert request got submitted Thursday-Friday. So maybe I will hear something by the end of the week....and it's approved! I would cry if they denied me. I'm trying not to think about it, but it's really all I can think about! Good luck, OnePhat! I hope you don't have to wait too long for your approval!
  19. all of the above and take my daughter to Carowinds for the first time, and we can BOTH ride all the rides!
  20. I don't know if you've already gotten your answer, but I wanted to respond - I also have Cigna, and I am under the impression that the 89+ day requirement starts from the day you see the physician, so unfortunately I don't think that dietitian visit counts. My insurance requirements say the 89+ day program must be under the management of a physician, and a dietitian is not a physician. I hope I am wrong for your sake, but that is how I understand Cigna's requirements. Good luck to you in your journey!
  21. Thank you, Cherie! Good luck to you as well!
  22. I've got my fingers crossed for you too! I've read over these past few months (yeah, I'm a lurker ) about people being in the waiting stages for approval from insurance, and it's a little surreal that I am finally in that process, too. These next couple of weeks are going to kill me lol. I hope you have a quick response!

    APPROVED!

Congratulations! I am slightly jealous... only 4 weeks ago? Lucky! Best of luck to you!
  24. I ordered the unjury sample pack a couple of weeks ago. It came with a couple each of chocolate splendor, vanilla, strawberry sorbet, unflavored, and chicken broth. I LOVED the chocolate splendor, liked the vanilla, and hated the strawberry sorbet. I have tried a lot of Protein shakes over the years, and I found Unjury to be the smoothest I've ever tried. No lumps or grittiness. I just ordered a tub of the chocolate splendor for my 2-week pre-op diet. I haven't tried the chicken broth yet, but I have read a lot of positive reviews on it.
