I have a crazy problem. At least it sounds crazy to me. Ever since I had my rny on Tuesday I've had an almost stabbing pain in the lower left side of my stomach. There are no incisions there and I'm not sure why it hurts so much. That is the only problem I am having.

Has anyone had this type of problem before? Thanks for the help

I had my surgery on Tuesday and I have a strange pain to the lower right of my belly button. Seems too low to be caused by the bypass. The pain is quite intense and causes me to walk hunched over because stretching makes it worse. I also would be curious is anyone knows what may be causing this.

I'm not the only one! I thought I was going crazy. I'm starting to think it was from the shots the gave me in the hospital but I don't know. In the meantime I'm walking like an old man and I'm afraid of stretching.

This happened to me as well. It was around my lower left incision (The largest one) but not really at the incision. It felt like my body was being ripped apart. The pain faded away in a few weeks. It went from the ripping to more of a burning, then to none.

Pik... That describes it well. It is like a ripping. Glad to hear that yours went away!

These first few days post-op have been more difficult than I expected. I can't imagine feeling well enough to go back to work in 9 days.

I don't think that is what it was from. I think it is where they have the scope and tools inside of you and moving them al around, and where they have to sew you back up. The dr told me that that area is where they had to cut the deepest as well as having to staple or sew things.

You know, a lot of people don't feel a thing! I had a rough way to go also. I know it hurts to move, but the more you move, the better it is... =/

This happened to me as well, I had my GB in Sept2013. I was so glad to of found this site and know that I wasnt the only person with these ouchies too. I also developed pancreatitis too, not sure if that is related or not. And I have acid reflux all the time if I don't take Prilosec...its so scarey and horrible feeling.

Is your pancreatitis chronic? I had it too. I was sick a week after surgery and then another week later. I got my medicine stuck and ended up admitted both times, also with pancreatitis. Worse the second time.

The ouchies are adhesion pains. Small thin fibrous connective scar tissue is slowly beginning to form, sudden movement like sitting, or standing can stretch or rip this scar tissue. Imagine a cut on your knee forms a scabs and each time you sit or stand the scabs peels off. It's hurts like a $//m555er!! I had pain for 2 1/2 weeks. It started at the end of my 2nd week. I should have taken more time off of work, but, I got threw it. Pain killers helped at night. Good luck! Sx 7/28 down 40lbs starting to be a fitness guru!

ShirleyJ84 - Are you feeling any better? Beginning yesterday I felt remarkably improved. Actually slept on my stomach last night and was able to roll over without pain.

I'm doing better. Honestly I think I've been trying to do too much too quickly. u Keep having to remind myself I just had major surgery. It's been tough though. I've slept through the night once since surgery, I'm exhausted. Also I think I took myself off of my pain pills too early. It's wait and see now.

I experienced the exact same pain that TSANGIA described. Lower right abdominal pulling, searing burning pain. I frequently put both hands over the spot when I walked up and down stairs. Felt like I needed an abdominal binder. NP mentioned adhesions and also inner incisions that hadn't dissolved yet. I'm just 7 weeks out and miraculously this pain disappeared around 5 weeks.

Keep walking. I walked everyday since surgery, I am almost three weeks out but at two weeks I was sleeping on both sides in my bed with no pain. I do sleep in a little cocoon they I make with my pillows. I am virtually pain free. I hope things get better for you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
