Getting Better With Age & Turning Back the Clock (NSV w pic)

Recommended Posts

So I was debating where to post this, and it seems like a success, so I decided on the success stories board. :-) I was looking through some old pictures today and came across one taken 3 years ago of me and my husband and it just kind of struck me how sad I look. And this picture was not even taken at my highest weight! So I put it side by side with a picture taken a couple weeks ago of us together, and I was amazed. Not only does my body look completely different, but I look genuinely happy. I think a picture can tell a lot about a person.... And younger! Happier and younger is a pretty good combination for 3 years later!

Wow, you look amazing!! And yes you look so happy now! I have to say though your arms look amazing, how did you do it to keep them looking so good?

That is actually SO funny that you say that. My only hesitancy in posting this pic is that I think my arms look terrible. Lol. I guess it's all a matter of perspective. As far as what I've done for arms specifically......nothing really other than I am on a running schedule training for a marathon and I do core strengthening like yoga, planks, etc.

OMG, are you serious? I had the exact same thought as the poster above me. It's obvious from your first picture that you used to carry a lot of weight in your arms, so I was looking at your recent pic wondering if you'd had brachioplasty, since your arms look so good now. I can't believe you were self-conscious about posting the pic because you think your arms look bad!!!!

Edit: Sorry. After I posted and read this I think I maybe came across a little harsh. I know everyone has insecurities about certain parts of their bodies. But, your arms really do look great in that pic, so I hope maybe you can put it in perspective and see yourself the way we see you.

Lol. It's ok. I didn't find your post harsh! Maybe it is because I have carried a lot of weight in my arms that I feel so insecure about them. If you look at the pics in my profile there are clearer shots of my pre-op arms. I actually met with my PCP today to start the process of documenting skin issues so that I can get approved for skin removal under my arms and lower stomach. I think when that is done I will feel like the "transformation" will be complete.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
