Loose Skin/Breasts/Butt

Recommended Posts

I'm a 37 year old female and will be getting sleeved soon. I'm concerned about loose skin....any tips to help avoid loose skin? I'm also curious if I'll lose my breasts and butt? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

It's different for everyone. My advice would be to stay hydrated, moisturize twice a day, and make sure to incorporate strength training into your workouts. You can also try supplements. I have read that Vitamin C and Beef Gelatin are both good for helping to tighten skin. I'm not sleeved yet, but I already bought a bottle of Beef Gelatin capsules to start taking post-op (I already take Vitamin C).

Not sure it can be avoided but know that it does get better with time. In the beginning we lose weight so fast that our skin needs time to catch up. So know now that it may look worse before it gets better. I agree with the recommendation of the previous poster regarding strength training. It can help.

Weight training is best, but depending on your age, your skin should mostly adjust to your new body size. The younger you are the more skin elasticity. Not so lucky as we age. But what's a little loose skin amount friends. You'll be feeling so good I'd venture to guess you won't care. Hang in there!

Also depends on how long you have been overweight. I'm 37 as well. I've been fat for 31 of those years. I'm down 75 lbs post surgery. So far, the loose skin I have is on my inner thighs and in the side boob area. I would have figured it would be on my stomach, but so far the weight loss there is slower so the wrinkly loose skin is not happening there as much as it is in those other two areas. I will say that overall my skin feels looser. Like, my butt is jigglier and looser, but does not have that telltale drapey, loose look, it just feels like there is less there.

I try to combat this by lifting heavy weights twice a week (on the two days I do straight cardio), and lifting fast and light once a week (via a body works plus abs class at my gym). I swim two other days.

I try to stay well hydrated and put lotion all over my entire body. Like my butt, my boobs, my tummy. Everywhere.

Edited to add that you may loose your boobs and butt. I've lost a lot in the boobs, not as much in the butt but still some. It's still a round bubble butt though, just less of it.

Great workout. Sounds like you are doing really well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
