Pre op Weight gain during 6mo for approval

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm currently on month 3 of my pre-op process. I have to be weight monthly to show the insurance company 6 months of weights (I have emblem HIP prime) my first weigh in I was 276, 2nd weigh in I was 281 and not somehow I've sky rocketed to 289. The surgeons office initially told me not to gain or lose more than about 7 pounds. I have basically almost doubled that. Has anyone been denied for weight gain during the 6 month process? I don't want to weigh in at 289 for august so I'm going to try and drop some weight but I don't think I'll be able to drop 8 pounds with only one week left in august. I started birth control again after 8 months of not being on it and I feel like that has something to do with the weight gain. Help!!!! I do not want to be denied I'm so stressed out about this.

I also gained on my sixth month appt so have to do another month for approval. I gained 7 lbs which I am unsure of how it happened...well that's not entirely true. I drank too much beer, had a birthday and went wild. I empathize with you and hope that my stumble has not blocked my surgery journey!

Hello. Maybe you should take a look at your food intake. Are you exercising? I started off by leaving off the carbs. Things like rice, Pasta, flour, and processed foods. Also, leaving off the empty calorie stuff like soda and juices.BC could be the problem but first just take a look at what you are doing. I hope this helps.

I am not a doctor but I would like to play one on T.V.

I am definitely having the same problem. I think I am on a farewell to food journey. I weighed in at 240 in May and was up to 247 at another an appointment in early August. back down to 242 this AM but have to see the nutritionist on Tuesday and my surgeon on Thursday. I know how it happens but am struggling to find a way to get back down. At this moment exercise is limited by other health issues. Feeling very defeated and worried about being able to lose even if I am approved for surgery and what would happen if I do not get the surgery. So frustrating.

thanks all for the input, I have tried to limit my carb intake and up my water- im currently at 285. my first weigh in was 276 and my second at 281, I have to weigh in next week for sure im hoping to get back down to 281 so I don't show a gain. I did start birth control so im hoping a note from the doctor may explain some of the weight gain. when is everyone else due to submit to insurance for approval? I would love to be able to talk to others with emblem health!

I had my nutritionist appointment today and was at 240.8 WOOOHOOO which is exactly what I weighed in at when I started this process. My surgeon had wanted me to be at this weight so my BMI would still be over 40. I am so relieved.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
