Burping / air bubbles

Recommended Posts

I'm about 15 months out. I think I've had this the whole time but maybe it's just annoying me more. I get like air bubbles / trickles that constantly bubble up my throat. Like tiny little burps. But not like a burp, more like bubbles in champagne. They make a little bit of noise and it makes me self conscious. It's not like a real burp where you can sort of stifle it.

I don't drink with my meals. I don't drink anything carbonated. I don't use a straw. I don't think I eat as slow as I should, but I have always struggled with that. But I wanted to post here and see if anyone has ideas. It is not what I would call a real burp so I have been having some trouble searching.

And yes it seems very trivial after some of the other things posted here. Sorry about that.

No knowledge is ever trivial, and thank you for being willing to share your experiences, and caring enough to do so.

I have more little burps since surgery. I can stifle them by keeping my mouth closed, but they are still there. I'm over three years out. I don't think it's ever going away. At least those truck sized stomach rumbles I had the first few months are long gone.

My stomach is still noisy but I just don't notice it as much as the burps. I have been taking the non-prescription omeprazole since I picked up a bunch when I was in the US (it's not available in Australia and it's cheaper than nexium) but I'm out and restarting nexium 20mg tomorrow. I'll be interested to see if it makes a difference. Sometimes I get a bit of heartburn with the cheap stuff so I suspect it's not enough for me. I have a mild hiatus hernia and have since around the 6 month mark (hernia repair during the sleeve but I guess I'm just prone -- it was noted when I had my gall bladder removed) so I may just always have a mild problem with acid.

I don't know if my hiatal hernia (undiscovered till VSG when they fixed it) has returned. I do take prescription omeprazole (not sure of the difference, but I know it's cheaper with my prescription coverage). I take one pill each morning.

I get this alot. Usually when I eat something like a sandwich, or something that's a little to heavy for my stomach to digest quickly. It is annoying, and embarrassing! I just have to watch what I eat when I'm around others. Sorry I don't have a solution for you..... :)

I get that if I eat too much close to bed time. I lay down and I can feel it - quite annoying! It does deter me from overeating!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
