the joy of eating, not so much.

Recommended Posts

I am almost 3 weeks post-op. I have totally lost any interest in eating. I don't enjoy it and I have to force feed myself on a schedule. I am still able to get all my fluids in but I am having a heck of a time eating enough Protein. I can only eat about 2 to 3 ounces of food at a time. The Protein Shakes are super sweet now, I can barely drink them. Am I the only one experiencing this?

You must take in all of your Protein it's number one and number two is your Water. If you don't you won't heal properly.

You should take to your surgeon or nutritionist about this problem of not getting in your protein and ask them what they suggest you do.

Now that being said here are a couple of suggestions.

Try using Jay Robb protein powders they are made with Stevia and are not as sweet as most protein powders I find.

They mix well with milk or water.

Their is Unjury chicken Soup Protein Powder that will give you 20g of protein per serving.

Some people here use Isopure Protein Drinks that have 40g of protein per bottle.

Use unflavored protein powder and add your own sweetener to your liking.

Good luck in finding something that works for you.

Hi I agree with the above statement I have to remind myself to eat as well, getting in your Protein is a must you can get it through shakes or Isopure as mentioned above or if your doctor allows it Protein Bars. If you can eat chicken it's an excellent source of protein as well as fish. Good luck my friend.

Our dr starts us with soft foods at three weeks and not more than 2 oz per meal 4-5 times per day and separate from the Protein drinks. Is that what your dr said too?

1-2 Protein drinks/day

2oz of soft foods from their list,

At least 4 cups of calorie free beverage and sugar free Jello, popsicle, etc.

Do you just not have any interest at all with eating? That's what I'm afraid of. Forcing myself to eat on a schedule. I'm not used to that. I'm trying to though with this preop diet, though I've slacked the last couple of days.

I am allowed three 4 oz meals a day. Sometime I can eat the whole 4 ounces sometimes I can't. I just have no interest in food what so ever. I am having to put unflavored protein in everything that I can to get daily amount of protein. I have no problems with fluids.

Dang. That's a lot of food for a 1-2 oz pouch.

I usually measure out 3oz. I'm lucky if I can take in that much.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
