How much did you eat per meal when you started the purée stage? I've seen 1/4 cup, 2 oz, 3 Tablespoons and so on. My nutrition guidelines list acceptable foods but do not specify amounts. Any help is much appreciated!

Per my doc eat slowly until you feel satified. Although in the pureed stage, I was told not to worry about calories or Protein, but make sure and get all my Water in. liquids went down easy for me from day one. I think I started with a 1/4 cut but it didnt take long until I could handle a 1/2 a cup. Keep in mind the diet really doesnt start until you can eat solids. Once there high cal liquids are taboo. I also found that creamed Soups did not sit well. I did better on low sodium vegtable soups ran through the blender and greek yogurt.

4ozs or 1/4 cup max. I am almost 7 months out and 4ozs is still just the right amount.

Get use to weighing out your portions right away. It is really easy to eat too much before you realize it. Whenever I eye out my meals I always prepare too much.

Our stomachs may be small but our eyes are still bigger.

I'm able to eat 1 tablespoon ... when on full liquids, it was 1/4 cup. I still can't get in anywhere near 64 oz. of fluids (lucky with 20 oz.). Also can't get the 6 small meals though. Was sleeved 7/1, so this is very new to me.

Thanks, all!

Sus, I was also sleeved 7/1 and I'm up to 80 oz of liquid a day. 20 oz isn't nearly enough. Have you spoken with your surgeon or gone to the ER for IV fluids? I'm worried about you.

Thanks Kate, I see a doctor (not my surgeon but someone he has seeing his patients) on Tuesday. I have not been feeling great and I am really trying to get in fluids. I measured my sip and it's 1/2 teaspoon ... it's just so hard at 1/2 a teaspoon at a time to get some fluids in me. Thank you for your concern.

Sus

I am five weeks post-op and just started soft foods. During the pureed stage I could eat 1/4cup pureed...sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less depending on the food.

I had my five week appointment yesterday and specifically asked about my Water consumption. Of course we are all shooting for at least 64 oz. per day but I am topping out at only around 30-40 oz. My nut said it is still difficult for many people at this early stage to get in the full amount of liquids. As long as I am not showing signs of dehydration and I keep working at increasing my amounts, she said I should be fine.

The six meals per day have also been hard as well. Some days it's easier to just drink the Protein shakes instead of trying to fit all these little meals in. My nut also said that this early out it's okay to do that. She wants me to listen to my body more than following a strict hour per hour regimented plan. Right now my body is telling me to concentrate on shakes because it helps with both my Protein and hydration...and eating soft foods is still a bit uncomfortable for me. My sleeve is still swollen, she said.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
