Hello All:

I was banded 4/19/07...am still sore and of course tired. I have lost 13 pounds in 5 days...is this normal? Im sure the massive diarehha is contributing to it. How long does it take to feel normal again? I went back to work today, but had to come home because it hurts to sit up in a chair due to the incisions. Nice to meet you all and good luck!

Jennifer

Hi Sweet -

I was banded on March 29, 2007. On Thursday, it will be 4 weeks post op.

I have losr 38lbs so far. VERY fast. The pain however is still lingering. I sadly also had a slip and fall that split a few of my stitches just last week which caused even more discomfort.

I think we all heal differently. My doctor told me that a lot of the pain is do to nerves that are on the mend and also the movement one makes stretches and causes discomfort.

I hope all goes well for you. Good luck with your LapBand journey! Please keep us posted!

and WAY TO GO on the weight loss!

Sweet thang, I join you in waiting for the golden response. Look at my ticker. Now I'm not complaining at all but my family are making comments "how much have you lost???" already.

I too hurt from incisions. It does hurt to walk but I am not taking the pain medicine. I feel light headed and tired. I had diarhea last night for three hours from creamy soup! So let's see what the others say and how we compare. I do know that everyone is different and we all respond at a different rate.:rolleyes

Hey there girlies!

You are both experiencing very much what I experienced when I was first banded. The scoots and the fast weight loss is all very common when you are first banded. Don't let these things lead you astray however. The healing process and the things that you are experiencing now are all going to change in the near future. You will begin to eat meals again and need to get yourselves on a life course that you are comfortable with and can live with forever. You are both doing great and you have a huge pat on the back from me.....awesome job girls, awesome job.

I am a claims rep for Social Security..I went and bought a pillow today and was a litte more comfortable. I took two days off work--had it on a Thursday and returned on Monday. But had to leave after working only 4 hours. I worked today the whole day and did fine! Good luck with your banding!

Sweet THang...we are band sisters!! I had mine on the 19th as well!! YOU GO GIRL!! I am a full time student and I dont work (hubby does that for me) LOL...anyways hope to talk to you again and we should keep in touch ..you know, we have a common interest....APRIL 19th!!! I dont know how much I have lost since surgery if any, but I lost 10 lbs on presurgery diet!! I own a scale but I already had a GOOD LONG TALK with myself about not using it excessively. I am going to doctor on Thursday for one week post op so I am excited to see if any weight loss. I also know from reading EVERYTHING in site that the weight loss MAY turn to gain when returning to "NORMAL" food again and that this six weeks is a healing process and not to be used to obsess about whether there is a loss or not on the scale. I can say that some of my clothes are not as tight so that is nice!!! Hope to hear from you, Deanna

Hello everyone,

I was banded on the 27th of March at NWWSC by Dr. Michaelson and am down 20 lbs as of yesterday. My first two weeks were rough but I have come through it okay. Now starting to eat about 2 ounces of food 3 times a day.

Gosh, I must be doing something wrong! I was banded on April 14th and have only lost 7 pounds. I'm only getting about 500-600 calories a day but thought I'd be losing a little better. Maybe it's my age. I'm 53 and my BMI was 38.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
