Pre-band, I mostly shopped at Lane Bryant and Avenue. However, now that I am losing weight, I refuse to pay that much for clothes that I know I will only be in for a short while. So, I have found the best places to buy my clothes for work is at JC Penneys. I have gotten some beautiful dress pants and skirts off their sale rack for as little as $6.00!! For my casual clothes, I can usually get some great deals at Kohls on their sale days.

oldnavy.com when I want that laid back look but still look cute. Their sizes are really good. I was shocked. Sometimes I have to order a size smaller and you can find good sales too.

Ashley Stewarts, when I want something to wear for a night out on the town. They have nice dressier clothes but way too bright for me.

Lane Bryant, when they have a sale or I have extra money to spend. Very nice clothes but too pricey.

jcpenny.com - I am able to find a couple of pieces from there every few months. Just a couple...lol!

I shop at Gottshcalks, Avenue and Lane Bryant. My DP wants me to cut up my Avenue card, now that i am/will be losing weight. Not sure if that is gonna happen.

I also shop at Wally World (Walmart) and Target too, especially for summer clothes, shorts, work out clothes.

Macy's also has a plus section. Robinsons/May had the best, a whole floor, but now that is gone.

The Old Navy here doesn't have plus sizes...the biggest size I've found in the store was 18, lol, as if.

When I was in a larger size I shopped pretty exclusively at Avenue, Catherine's (ugh - few things for ppl my age, hardly anything cute - ever - but when you're buying "what fits" over "what I like", you take it), Fashion Bug, LB (on the off-hand chance that their largest size would fit me) and online stores like Roaman's and Silhouettes.

Now I shop mostly at Old Navy (ours carries up to 22), Fashion Bug, Dress Barn, Target (really cute wrap dresses, ladies!), and Penny's. Penny's has some awesome sales on summer dresses right now. I picked up a $180 halter dress for $32... paired with the $20 shrug from Target, it will be a great outfit for summer night dinners, and it was cheap to boot! I shop at these places because their prices are cheap and I don't plan to wear the clothes for very long. Fashion Bug & Dress Barn have some really cute dresses now that don't make me gag, and that's saying something.

I also buy some stuff at Avenue still. Depending on the piece I'm either their 14/16 or 18/20 (tops) and 20 or 22 in pants. Most of their customers are bigger sizes than that. Know what that means? Lots of leftovers! (aka SCORE in the clearance racks, because they ALWAYS have those sizes left over)

Oh, I forgot a few places. For work clothes I also shopped at J. Jill (in most stores they'll carry up to 2x, and online you can get up to 4x) and Dillard's/Macy's. It sometimes took some looking to find something more my age than older, but I could always find something.

One of the most inspiring things one of the speakers at the seminar I went to for the first time looking into lapband was "I just paid off my Lane Bryant card and cut it up". YAY! Please God, let that be me soon, not even thinking about where to find clothes that fit.

Only Wheetsin mentioned Silhouettes, I use them online still. I think Roaman's clothes are tacky looking. Online is good for a lot of things, except jeans and things you really need to try on. JJill clothes are really gorgeous, but SOOOOOO expensive.

I wish there were some easier way to set up a clothing exchange, guess it is still somewhat difficult. Even with a goodly stash of "goal clothes" from before, it is still a little exciting to have something "new" to look forward to fitting into. There is something so liberating and a little scary to actually give away the larger sizes......I have always kept them because I have always eventually needed them again. Hopefully NEVER AGAIN!

What I want to know is, what do people do about their wedding bands? It is expensive and not always possible to get them resized. As you lose weight and the rings fall off, do you wear them around your neck until you reach "goal"? It seems impractical to just keep buying sizes that fit.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
