I am 3 weeks post surgery today and I am getting really bored with my food choices!

I have made my food into every Soup known to mankind (feels like this anyway) and even though once I start eating the feeling of boredom goes away it causes me problems before hand if this makes any sense.

I can't tolerate any food which is not pureed, plain yogurt or cottage cheese-or I feel horrible discomfort

I cannot abide sweet food it has to be savory, I made myself a Protein drink with banana pureed last night and was only able to force it down because I needed the Protein.< /p>

Has anybody got any suggestions for what to do with tuna, chicken or turkey?

My surgeon has told me I will be on this diet for 12 weeks, so I have a lot of boredom to get through!!

I was only on pureed food for three weeks, but I found if I poached fish (scallops, swordfish, various filets) with some seasonings (apple cider vinegar, cooking sherry, black pepper corns, bay leaves, fresh parsley, rosemary, thyme) in the Water or broth (vegetable stock) then the purees were much better tasting. For canned tuna and salmon I added a little non-fat salad dressing. I also poached chicken thighs or breasts in chicken stock with some herbs before the puree. I still like flavorful food. Start experimenting in the kitchen, I'm sure you'll find some flavors you like.

I suggest getting cookbooks for different cuisines and trying those recipes. Indian vegetarian recipes are anything but boring! You may want to try "spinach saag." I'd try adding a little plain yogurt & unflavored Protein to it after it cools to 140 degrees or less.

I enjoy poached eggs on a bead of refried Beans with salsa. I can only eat 1 egg and a 1/4 cup of beans at a time. Another one I like but am getting tired of is deli sliced turkey covered in the mustard of your choice. You can also spice up cottage cheese with salsa. Pan seard scallops chew up nicley. String cheese is also allowed during the squishey phase. Your doc is strict. I am back on regular food at one month, this Wednesday. I have already tested a few items and had no problem. Cant wait for salads.

Do a search for gamergirl on here. She posted a ton of recipes last year and has a blog, I think it is twosleevers.com or something like that. Lots of pureed dishes. She's an excellent cook.

The problem I have is that my surgeon and NUT do not allow me very many options-no egg yolks, no salad dressings, no salsa

No spicy foods

"No spicy foods" doesn't mean no flavor. Make Indian or other recipes, leaving out the oil and hot pepper. Penzey's has a "sweet curry powder"; "sweet" means it doesn't have the usual cayenne pepper mixed into it. It's very tasty!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
