Light at the end of the tunnell

I am now 2 months and 9 days Post Op. It has been a rough road. I had surgery on 4/9. I could not regain ANY of my of energy, could not eat/drink hardly anything. On May 11th I was sitting at work and began to have severe pain in my shoulder. I laid down in my car during lunch and went back to work after lunch....at this point I was in tears to my boss I was in such pain. I finished the day out, went home and went straight to bed. At 5:30 the following morning I called my mom to take me to the ER...(she lives 2 hours away) by the time she got to me and we got to the ER it was around 9:30am....by 11am I was in surgery again. I had a perforation where my esophagus meets my stomach (basically I was filling up with air). It was probably the worst pain I have EVER endured. I wanted to die. Honestly, I thought I was dying. Within a week after surgery I was FINALLY beginning to feel human again. Until this point I regretted the surgery. I felt I had made the worst mistake of my life.

Today...2 months and 9 days later..I am 37 pounds down.. Not sure how many inches I have lost, but I can tell a HUGE difference. I have so much energy. I have never been a go go go person, but that has changed. I want to continuously be on the go.I no longer feel like shooting myself in the head at meal times. I was finally released for exercise last week and let me tell you....my exercise partner is hating me this week, LOL...

I know I am rambling, but I wanted to tell my story incase anyone is having a tough time or having regrets. It WILL get better. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Thanks for sharing your story. So many people get the impression that WLS is a walk in the park and are blindsided when it turns out different. I want to officially call "Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!" on my doctor who said I should only expect to feel "mild discomfort" after my surgery.

Thank you for sharing your story with us! It's very important to hear. I'm 26 days out and I'm finding myself wishing time away- and that's never good. It's important to remember that these first few months are the hardest in many ways. I'm glad you're ok!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
