I Am 3 weeks and 1 day out from my VSG procedure. I am on day 14 of a weight loss stall. Omg, this could not be more frustrating! I have seriously only lost 2.8lbs in the month of June eating only tiny bits of food. Ive heard it is common to have stalls to allow your body to catch up with the weight loss, but how long do they last?? I'm beginning to think I am quite possibly the only person who can fail at this!!!

I am speaking only from watching my husband go through this and other's post here on bariatric pal. Im 14 days out myself but haven't stalled yet.

You need three things to lose weight with this and keep your body out of starvation mode and eating your muscle mass for fuel.

1. Water/hydration: our doc says 64oz a day

2. Protein: for female 65g-70g a day

3. Exercise: I'm using an app called "Pacer" it's free and it turns my phone into a pedometer. I'm working at increasing my daily step count. Our doc says 30 minutes of doing anything that makes you sweat, every day

If you have significantly increased your carb intake that could also be a problem. Good luck Babish and keep us posted!

I am 17 days out myself and feel like I am I the same boat. The 1st 9 days I was down 25lbs. Days 9-17....still at the same. I am sticking to the food plans and increasing my activities daily. I have. Been riding my bike and started in the pool yesterday. I feel weak in the arms and legs. I also feel extremely thirsty and hungier than usual ALL the time. I love Water and feel like I just can't get enough now. I was just saying last night "I hope I didn't go through all of this for 25lbs"!! I feel your frustrations.

Hello. Sleeved June 17 and after 7 days I was down 20 pounds from before pre-op diet. I am thrilled. Now I haven't lost a pound since then. I know it's frustrating and discouraging. Now I'm on soft foods and I need milk of magnesia to get my system flowing again

I am getting at lest 70 gym Protein and I drink throughout the day. By the way, I never had an issue with fluids. I take my Water in just fine without sipping and not gulping either.

Everyone please keep posting. I want to know about getting past this stall.

For the newbies coming into the first stall, I also want to throw out there that I've heard and seen that cycles play a big impact and can easy stall you for a week. Ultimately your body knows what it's doing and it will come off if you keep to the plan.

Babish glad to hear the "number" is on the move again!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
