Who eats McDonalds post op?

Recommended Posts

When I was on my 2week pre-op I was hangry! Hungy/angry that evrry other tv commercial was for food. I was second guessing my decision because I had a serious sweet tooth. I do believe I was detoxing because after my surgery I no longer crave candy cake Cookies or fast food and my skinny sons eat it all the time! I am still shocked that bread doesn't appeal to me. I love it! Good luck!

Tonight I had chickfila kids grilled chicken nuggets(4), fruit, milk. Perfect!

This is the perfect meal! I love that they have grilled chicken nuggets now! I can only get the nuggets down at on sitting then the fruit at a different time!

We have no chicfila or el pollo loco. The other night it was already after 9 when I was headed home from work. My kiddo was hungry. Mcd's is one of the only places I can stop so I drove through and got her a 4 nugget meal and me 4 nuggets. I ate 3 of her fries and ate 2 nuggets (took an hour). 4 pieces are 190 calories.... Which means I easily ate less than 200 calories for my "dinner".

It isn't the tiny amount (less than 200 calories) that we eat now that put on the 100+ pounds we are trying to get rid of... its the Big mac, fries and large drink (1000+ calories) that put the weight on.

My lifestyle doesn't allow me to cook all the time, and as prepared as I am, if I am not in the mood for what I "brought" with me to work, I just won't eat... which isn't good either. I think its obviously important not to go overboard. But I think if you take into account your calories for the day, its not going to have the effect that your pre-sleeve stomach could eat.

Not just calories you want to look at but what type of calories. Quality ...

The other morning I gave a coworker a ride to work and she asked if we could stop at McD's to pick up Breakfast. I ordered a breakfast burrito. When I got to work, I scraped the inside of the burrito (sausage, scrambled egg, cheese) into a bowl and discarded the tortilla. I was satisfied and it wasn't a huge cheat. Although it is not something I would want to repeat often, it is nice to know there are workable options out there when we find ourselves in a situation where fast food is unavoidable.

I had a "food funeral" prior to surgery. I went to my favorite restaurant and ordered all of my favorite foods. We drank, ate and spent nearly $300 for the 2 of us. It now makes me giggle. I still eat all my favorite foods, just in moderation. I don't indulge on the bread basket unless THATS what I want and I typically just eat a little of everything. I do still run through McDonalds on occasion but instead of the Big Mac and extra large fry I get a kids meal.

I had a McDonalds experience just this weekend...we were at a baseball tournament in a small town on a Sunday afternoon. It was truly a one stoplight town and everything except for McDonalds was closed. I had a Protein bar with me, but I knew with a 2.5 hour trip home, I might need it for later. My husband and son had to eat, so we stopped at McDonalds.

I ordered a chicken wrap with grilled chicken. I opened up the wrap and ate the chicken (there was probably 2-3 ounces), one slice of bacon, the Tomato and cucumber. I had a bite of the wrap. I was satisfied. I didn't eat a fry, have a shake, or McCafe calorie-laden drink. This is a similar meal that I would have at a restaurant.

I had the choice - I could have ordered a burger and fries, but I chose not to. I chose not to have a shake or a McFlurry - I was tempted, but I CHOSE not to. The sleeve does not make the choices for you - the sleeve will stop you from eating copious amounts of food.

I took my granddaughter to McDonalds and I ordered a grilled chicken snack wrap, opened it up to just eat the chicken and threw the rest away. Pretty easy.

I love to read my old posts. i'm now well over 3 years post op. I had great success but have had some regain recently. i'm still a work in progress.

yes, I still occasionally have mcdonald's, and my meal is a cheeseburger and fry. now here's the real scoop- I rip about 75% of the bun away, leaving just enough thin material to hold it all together, and I can eat about 8 fries with it. that's it. sometimes, though, this really hits the spot!!!

I have 1 Breakfast burrito frequently. I have tried a cheeseburger but it didn't make me feel good so I look for other food. Actually a 5 guys burger is good . I split it with my wife and eat about 60% of my half plus about 5 fries. I have maintained my weight well and eat much healthier now with my sleeve. If I have a challange after 4 years it's getting enough Water in.

I've hit MCD several times since surgery. I usually get a plain grilled chicken patty (no bun). I usually can eat 3/4's of it then end up tossing it. I also got a cheeseburger with no bun and a plain sausage patty before. Now, these are all low carb options but they're still considered unhealthy. But when I'm desperate, I'm desperate.

I do eat on the run from time to time but I try and do it as healthy as possible. For me I usually chose Wendy's and get a single burger without the bun. Their burgers seem to taste better than McDs. I also will get a salad from Subway with double the meat or a grilled chicken sandwich with no bun from time to time.

Only thing I have had from there at 9 weeks post opt is 3 nuggets and a mango pineapple smoothie. And not together, it was just something to grab while I was out and about I can live without the nuggets but that smoothie is hard to let go of. I think once in a while it's ok to have what you want in order to be realistic about this you have to live normal. I make better choices most of the time and I don't really crave fast food or junk food.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
