FYI - Possible Hitch - United Healthcare / MDIPA Federal Plan

I just attended my 3rd nutritional seminar. One woman just heard that she was not approved because her 6 months of nutrition seminars/weight loss were not "supervised by a physician." It was run by a dietician.

The bariatric surgeon and coordinator are discussing this with the insurance company and hope to work it out. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up to check on their coverage.

I have UHC MDIPA FED and I am praying my approval letter will not be an issue. I'm a nervous wreck over it. The paperwork won't be submitted until July 21st ugh! And my surgery is scheduled for August 20th. God willing all will go as planned.

My husband knows a lot about health insurance and said it was more unlikely under the federal plan because there is an appeal process mandated by OPM.

Beagle lover, he said it was more unlikely to get approved or to be rejected. Just want to clarify I'm freaking out.

I can't answer-- I don't know what they will do. Will the surgeon's bariatric coordinator work on it for you? If not, I'd check with OPM and find out what their appeal process is-- get it down step-by-step so you can appeal it without missing a beat.

Yes the coordinator did say she will take care of it. I with they could sent it in now but she said they can't sent it into the insurance until 30 days before the surgery. Please keep this in your prayers. I'm a true believer in the Power of prayer. And with that I'm not going to worry its all in God's hands.

I was approved yesterday. . So excited and so nervous now. I'm set to have one more thing today. The anastasia test then I'm good. Thank you lord.

Fantastic that you were approved! The Anastasia test! What is that! Sounds like someone's trying to see if you are an relative of a distant Russian czar!
