Any New Yorkers? Long Island!

Anyone getting November surgery? I'm trying to decide still between band and sleeve and leaning towards sleeve! I'm scared to permanently remove part of my body and wonder in the long run if it might be a problem. BASICALLY CAN YOU LIVE TO A RIPE OLD AGE WITH 80 % of your Tummy gone??

Hi Sunny! I am Lao going for VSG but nervous as well.. I'm realistic .. I weigh 242 and I should be about 140 ... There's no way in hell I will lose the weight AND keep it off, I'm 40 and overweight my whole life.. I need a change for good and I will never do it without help. Not sure about you but I'm tired of living like this..

I am from suffolk Long Island

Was sleeve may 19

Would love to meet some local people!!!

Hi! Whitestone neighbor here! I'm having problems posting - I'm using Dr. Garber who I think is at the same office as Dr. Holover. I'm prepping for a colonoscopy ugh - best of luck and let us know how it goes - perhaps we can meet sometime? Georgia

Hey Georgia !!! Yes dr holover is in the same office.. They actually just moved to a HUGE facility in Roslyn Heights. Getting sleeved on Monday 8/4 ... Scared $hitless but soooo excited. Been Doing my pre op liquid ( sigh) ..rJust got my GP MEDICAL clearance yesterday..my doc actually said that she has not seen me this happy in a long time :). You are being sleeved, yes?

CORAM,NY here. I was sleeved 3/12/14. Down 87 lbs. I would love to have some Long Island sleeve buddies to chat with. I also dont mind being a support buddy for anyone that needs it. Hubby was just sleeved 7/25 and doing fantastic. We wish we could've done it 10 years ago! Best thing we have ever done

I'm from selden, ny. I was just sleeved yesterday by dr ahmad & argwala. I'm feeling pretty good besides the gas pains! I just started drinking liquids so I'm hoping to be discharged later! I can't wait to see the weight start coming off!

Hi everyone.. Got sleeved on monday 8/4...was hoping to get out on tuesday.. But i did my leak test and a portion of the contrast would not go down and stayed in my esophagus.... I ended up regurgitating the left over contrast through out the night and they are doing another round of GI Testing this morning...doc said he did endoscopy after surgery and saw nothing out of the ordinary..they are hoping it was just swelling in my throat and that the antibiotics i got thru the night will have helped..other than that i feel good...5 incisions.. Did all my walking.. No gas pains..i am just hoping to go home. The staff at Mercy Hospital have been amazing..i will keep you updated. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I am having trouble with notifications and posting so I didn't see your earlier post.

I have just started on this journey and won't be sleeved until January 2015 because of the wait time required by my insurance.

I'm sorry you had to stay in the hospital and had the regurgitations issues. Dr. H. did 5 incisions? Did he tell you he was doing the incisions? Dr. Garber told me through belly button, but I can't imagine how he would get to my stomach thorugh all the fat strata.

Please let us know how it is going.

This is the beginning of a new life for you!!

Georgia

I'm glad to hear about Mercy as that's where I'll be too.

I am a suffolk county sleever as well. July 30 th was my sleeve date. I am down 38lbs total so far.

Hey Georgia.. Yes 4 very Small incisions & 1 is less than 2 inches..i am feeling really good.. And yes the staff at mercy was fricken amazing.. The bariatric wing holds about 7 beds.. We all had private rooms..they were so incredibly great..just be prepared.. They DO WAKE YOU UP EVERY TWO HOURS to walk around the hallways/ wing in order to promote circulation.. Geez all i wanted was a full nights sleep! I am doing my best to sip sip sip.. I ended up pureeing some non fate cottage cheese with a bit of unsweetened applesauce, & put in some unflavored unjury protein. Stayed down nicely ( ok ..i used an espresso spoon to eat it & got about 7 bites). I really am amazed that monday is a week already..getting all my vitamins on a schedule throughout the day is proving to be a task.. But i'll get there. Believe me 6 months will go by VERY FAST. :)
