Want to know what I should take to the hospital ? ?????

Chapstick Chapstick Chapstick. <br><br> I took tons of stuff, but didn't need most of it. Toothbrush, hair brush, did I say Chapstick? Maybe some clothes to wear after you catheter out and something comfy to wear home.

I think I'll be taking my own sleep wear like pajamas because I don't feel comfy at all walking around a hospital in a hospital gown ewes lol I'm so excited

I did that too but you'll have catheter/folly the first day and then an IV the whole time you're there so you own clothes can be tricky. I did wear pajama shorts after my folly came out. Also, you'll probably have enough pain meds in you to not care

I didn't have a catheter after surgery so the first time I got up to use the bathroom I put on underwear. That made a huge difference for me. Gown was fine then.

Yes you have to be naked except for the gown going in to surgery. They usually put a catheter in. Some people have drains as well.. I had them take my catheter out 2 hours after surgery. I wanted to walk without it lol.

Yep even your bra lol they put the catheter in while you are out cold (thank god).

What to take with you for surgery?

My spouse. My hospital allowed my spouse to remain with me after surgery until my release. That was nice especially during the first night when I was walking the halls with the IV rack in tow.

Firm sole shoes. Should have good traction when you are walking the halls. Walking was probably one of the most important thing to do in the hospital. I walked 100 laps during the two days I was in the hospital. I never felt the pain after the anesthesia wore off. I could barely tell when it wore off. I never took any pain medicine after the operation. Never needed it. Recovery was a smooth transition.

Many hospitals offer a pull bar that hangs above the bed which allows you to exit the bed easily. Make sure you ask for this if it is optional.

Your spirometer. Also if you have a C-PAP or BiPAP machine, you probably need to bring these to the hospital with you.

Yeah I don't have any of those machines.. But I Weill be taking comfy things. I'll see if my husband can stay with me the first night at least .. He can't take off work I mean he can ask and see if he can. This is major and I'll need his support and him there lol.. So exciting

Importantly my own personal fan. It's not always as cold as you would like to sleep and it's so important for you to be comfortable. Buy a battery operated personal size fan!

Yeah, lol I was goin ask about the fan situation a lot of peope have said bring a fan... I might end up bringing a life size one from home lol .. I like to sleep where it's freezing cold but comfortable enough to sleep in. Even in winter.., what if I havr my period the day of surgery ?

If you have your period you can't have a tampon in during surgery. They gave me a big ol hospital maxi pad and disposable undies.

Some hospitals will just put a huge pad thing under you during surgery then clean you up and put a maxi on you after surgery.

I was freaking out about it but it's apparently realky common for the stress to bring on periods early or late just in time for surgery.
