Were u always overweight or become as an adult?

Recommended Posts

I was a normal kid, got chubby in grade school. By grade 8 I was slimmer. In high school I was thin but I was always dieting. After my babies I gained weight, lost it, gained it, lost it. I'm sick of the yo yo, that's why I'm doing this. I know I can lose weight and keep it off but I'm hungry all the time and I'm either eating too much or not enough. I need to feel "normal".

The last picture of me at a normal weight was when I was 5. It's been an unsuccessful struggle for the last almost 45 years. I try to not think about the life lost during those years and just look joyfully to the future.

I was always the skinny kid! My mom took me to the doctor and complained that I was too skinny. He told her I was healthy not to worry. As a teen I was very active, I ran track, I ran every day. Once I was out of high school I wasn't as active. At 20 I got married in a size 5 gown. At 23 I got pregnant and so it began. I gained 60 lbs with that pregnancy, 60 pounds with my second pregnancy. I remember my OBGYN telling me that if I didn't quit gaining weight my husband would leave me for a skinny woman! He was so mean! Even tho I have tried almost every diet out there I didn't maintain the losses . So here I am at 267 lbs ready to take control again!

I was normal size until I was about 6, but then I got sick and was hospitalized. After that I blew up. I couldn't run around outside and play much and never picked up the habit after that hospitialization. I've never not been fat as an adult. I'm not thin yet, but every day is a step (or an elliptical session) in the right direction.

I was a normal size Baby at 7lbs.

When I was 31/2 I suffered my first seizure, After that I was put on medication that cause me to be hungry all the time therefore gaining a good amount of weight. By the time I was 7 I grew out my seizures but not the weight, They took me off the medication by my 8th Birthday. By the time I was 11 I was 166lbs with high cholesterol, I dieted throughout my childhood and on into my teen years where I continued to gain despite my efforts.

I have been big all my life, in my baby book mom wrote "Oh you are getting so big, you are wearing sissy's clothes, and we had to return the size 2T. (This was when I was six months old.) I have been on different diets since I was seven years old. I just got my surgery date and am looking forward to this new me.

My Dad used to sing " rolly poley Daddy's little fattie" to me as a kid... My smallest size was an 8-10 when I was 16-17. Largest is a 22, which I am now. 5'6, 261.

I have always been "the chunky girl." As a child I wasn't obese, but I was plump. My uncle nick named me "2 tons of fun" and I was called that for years, and internally, it shamed me. I gained progressively until high school, and then I started playing sports so I plateaued at around 215. In college I was always the "fat friend" and my weight settled around the 240's. On my wedding day 5 years ago I weight 260... In 2012, after my son's 2nd birthday party I saw the pictures of myself and was horrified. I went to the scale to find that I had made it all the way to 312 lbs. I knew that I had to do something, and from that point on I was determined to lose this weight! Today I am 202 (almost 4 months post op and 96lbs down)and I am anxiously awaiting ONEDERLAND because I honestly don't remember a time in my life since I was conscience of my weight that I weight under 200 lbs! Praying these next 3 lbs melt away so that I can feel what it's like to not weigh 200 plus pounds :)

Wow! Almost 100 lbs. in 4 months!!! You are smokin'!!! Congratulations.

I was always a normal size child and teenager. I am big boned so in highschool and college I felt bigger than I actually was. When I graduated from college I was 120 pounds at 5'4". When I started dating my husband at 21 I slowly started gaining weight due to new unhealthy eating habits that my husband had engaged in for years. I didn't really start getting fat until after my babies were born. and then a hysterectomy that brought on early menopause packed on the pounds. I got up to about 265 and couldn't take it any more because my knees and hips were always hurting. Nothing ever fit and I always felt like the fattest woman in the room. I come from a very thin family and none of them understood how or why I had gained so much weight. They have always been kind but expressed concern about what I was doing to my health, Now that I've lost 50 pounds they are noticing and they are saying positive things as well as how proud they are of me. I have not told any of them that I have had surgery but they are very aware of my dieting. I like it this way and I'm so thankful for my sleeve and this opportunity to get healthy again.

Started packing on the pounds when I let an Ob/Gyn talk me into levonorgestrel implants (Norplant) in my early 20's and it's been an uphill battle to shed the weight ever since. Was an average sized kid and slender and very fit teen. Now? Just sort of a blob.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
