Surgery went well on Tuesday and I am home recovering. At discharge I had only gained .8oz from my pre-surgery weigh in. Doctors where great gave good pain meds and I had no problems with nausea or keeping liquids down. I walked a lot and gas pains where minimal. Day of surgery and 2 day post op had lots of energy and was feeling pretty good, wanted to drink my liquids. Today 3 days post op I am so sleepy/lazy, sore as hell and not feeling hungry. Is it normal to feel good for a couple days and then the sleepiness overcome you? I have a slight cough but nurse says that is normal just keep using the breathing machine. My incisions are ugly however, I do know that they are still "fresh" and need to heal. For the most part my recovery is going very good. Tomorrow back to the pre-op diet for 4 days then creamed Soups, non clumpy oatmeal foods consistency of baby food. So glad to be on the banded side.

Yes that sounds like my experience. I am 6 wks post op & I felt better 2 days post op than I did at 1 week out. Hang in there. It gets much better at around 2 weeks. Don't push yourself, rest & protect your incisions.

Had my surgery yesterday. Was sore from the moment I woke up, but became manageable within a few hours. Home now, finally took a nap. Had a nice cold sugar-free lemon ice and the cold was amazing on my stomach!

Thanks 2muchfun for your response, hoping this sleepiness passes soon. Congrats Booflu and Joe on recently being banded. This is def a new experience and I am off work until Monday. Unfortunately, I am taking online classes and I have work that needs to get done today and over the weekend.

I was sick to my stomach a few hours after surgery:( Threw up about 4 times. Today i did much better but slept most of the day. Pain medicine is doing it's job. However i'm hungry! Don't know if it's mental though:( Anyone else feel hungry right after?

This is me doing my Horshack impression at the back of the class. Sorry, you're way too young to even know who Horshack is?

Anywho, yes, I was hungry just days after sugery.

I felt the same way. I am 10 days post op, and the first couple of days I was sore but felt ok, then for a few days I felt awful... tired, lethargic, and just out of sorts. now for the last couple of days I have felt good, but have been really hungry. still on full liquids until I have follow up appt. tomorrow. the bruising is going away but the surgery site still looks kinda gross!!!

Day of surgery I drank everything they would give me....LOL Don't think I was really hungry the day of surgery I was just thirsty and couldn't sleep. The meds I have backed off on, I am just sore not much pain.

I rested a lot yesterday feel better today still a little lazy feeling. Going to just do things as I feel and rest most of the day. Back to pre-op diet today and it was so lovely to have a chocolate Protein shake this morning. After reading posts on here I assumed I would not be able to drink the 10oz. It took about 45 mins but I was able to consume the entire 10oz of Protein Shake. Never thought I would say it took me 45mins to drink a Protein shake...LOL

Was I suppose to stop once I was full or was it ok to sip and let it go down and continue sipping until it was gone? I am new to this my post op is on wed 6/4. What other foods are comparable to the consistency of baby foods. Creamed Soups and creamy oatmeal/cream of wheat but what else?

You should always stop when you are full. As long as you don't continue to drink or eat to the point you're uncomfortable. No need to stretch your stomach so early.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
