Hi all. Any Philly/South Jersey here?

I have KHPE and they are covering my surgery. Does your plan have a specific exclusion? Ask your surgeon's office for the procedure code and call member services and have them look up that specific code. Good luck!

Hi all.... I am originally from Philly but live in California now. However, I am in Philly/Bucks a few months out of the year to visit.... I would love to meet up with folks who are accustomed to my new lifestyle (once I get to surgery). My friends and family are not very supportive of my decision but I am okay with that. I am trying to broaden my horizons and get support everywhere I need it ... I hoping to be sleeved by August. Cross fingers. My insurance covers it 100% but I have slacked for the last 1.5 years in losing the required weight of 15 pounds. I have gained 12 more over the last 1.5 yrs and now have 27+ to meet my goal and get scheduled. It was hard as I was on a plane all the time back and forth to philly as my stepdad was having heart attacks and hip replacements! I was stressed out all the while working (from home) and traveling with a 2 yr old at the time. I know I shouldn't have excuses but I let my excuses and naysayers/non supporters hold me back from taking care of myself.... So any who.... Congrats to all who have already ha the surgery and best of luck to those pending or fighting insurance companies! I would love to meet up when I am in town next!!!

Jennifer

Conflates on your decision to get the surgery even though support sounds limited. I have found this site to be extremely supportive in many ways, hope you do as well. How often do you get to the Philadelphia area?

Hi I am in Philly/South Jersey and I will be sleeved soon by Dr. Schuricht at Pennsylvania Hospital. Has anyone heard of him? Has anyone scheduled with him?

Hi, Unfortunately I do not. I had my surgery at Kennedy Hospital by Dr. Fakulujo. Did you check the surgeon section of bariatric pal. You can search for the surgeon and if anyone that had the surgery with him should be there. Hope this helps. Good luck with your journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
