Drs. Jose Curiel and Mario Camelo with Medical Tourism Co?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm a new(ish) member but I've been stalking the forum for ages. I've found SOOOOO much useful information here and have heard great things about many doctors. I recently reached out to a company called Medical Tourism Co, and they sent me information regarding two doctors: Dr. Jose Curiel, and Dr. Mario Camelo and I can't seem to find a whole lot of reviews on either. Also the San Juan clinic in Tijuana seems to be lacking in information as well. Has anyone had any experience with either of these doctors or with the San Juan clinic? What about Medical Tourism Co? Any information would be appreciated. I'm still in the planning/saving stages, but I'm just about ready to put down a deposit with one company/surgeon or another so that I can set a date for surgery.

Thanks guys,

C.

I am booked through Medical Tourism to have my surgery on the 30th. I was first scheduled with Dr. Curiel at Jerusalem Hospital but recently switched to Dr. Ramos. Mainly because of the facility. It was difficult finding information on both but I did find more on Dr. Curiel. I mainly asked question through my coordinator, Hazel Ramos, to get info. It seems like there are a handful that are very popular and some that are not so popular but just as qualified. I feel confident in my decision and would had been happy with either one. Dr. Ramos will performing my surgery at Florence Hospital and their motel is on the 4th floor of the hospital, since I am traveling alone this appealed to me.

Thank you for your response. You're right...there are a few names that continue to pop up over and over again, and not much on Curiel or Camelo. I will continue to look as I have another week or two before I am ready to schedule, but it does seem that the more I research, the farther away I am from having a clear choice.

@@Stacy'sSleevedLife Hi! I have seen that many people have gone to Jerusalem Hospital and had a good experience, but there are some reviews out there that bother me, and the setup of Jerusalem "Hospital" is not appealing to me at all. I'm glad for those who had a good experience there, but it's not for me. I wouldn't be comfortable there and I'm not interested in having my surgery there. On the Medical Tourism Co website, they list that Dr. Curiel would be performing surgery out of San Juan Clinic (Clinica San Juan), but I can't find much info on that facility besides a few pictures. The pictures look really nice, but I'd love to see/read reviews of someone who's actually been there. If I can't find any reviews about this place, I won't be going there either. Still, if you have some information that might help me settle on a surgeon or facility (or decide against one or the other) I'm happy to receive that. I'm still in the research phase.

Thanks,

C.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
