Minor complications...

I was sleeved on May 6. I knew I had a hiatal hernia that was going to be repaired, but when my doc went in, apparently it was HUGE! I was in surgery an extra hour. When I woke up in my room, the only discomfort I had was like gas trapped under my left shoulder. I thought "oh I can deal with this." Then the vomiting started. There was no nausea or anything. Come to find out my esophagus was swollen shut and NOTHING and I mean nothing was getting through. Ice chips, popsicles, SALIVA, nothing! Can you say miserable. I had to stay in the hospital an additional 5 days including mother's day. Finally the swelling went down and I'm able to keep liquids down and I feel 100% better:) Minor setback. Now let the journey begin!!!

Hello I'm so happy to hear that you are better. I had surgery may 9th and also had a hernia. I'm having lots of trouble drinking fluids because it hurts soooo bad! I feel really weak, dizzy, and have a huge headache. I am barely consuming 4 to 8 oz of water a day. I think I might have to make a trip to the ER.

Go to the ER! Dehydration can cause your kidneys to shut down! !!

Thank you angelita85. I feel so much better. And yes if you are not able to get your fluid intake, then go to the ER! I know that if I take too big of a gulp it's very painful. Are you sipping?

Now let the journey begin!!!
