3.5 weeks post op...not losing

Recommended Posts

I thnk it is very normal. I am also 3.5 weeks out and haven't lost weight in over a week. I'm pretty sure I'm losing inches but I'm eating under 500 calories, having 70 grams of Protein and exercising 2x a day - transformation must be happening !!

I've been wondering the same thing. I was losing about a pound a day until my 2 week follow-up on 5/8. Since then I've only lost about 2.5 pounds. But, I did begin walking 30 minutes a day and doing some strength training. I wonder if I'm building muscle and reducing fat. But, I want to get off this stall soon! Results on the scale is my big motivator.

I am 3.5 weeks post-op also. You are losing way more than I am! I lost 10 lbs. in the first two weeks and 2 lbs. since my 2 week checkup, for a grand total of 12! I'm taking in an average of 600-700 calories a day. It just doesn't add up, considering that I am measuring my food, getting all my Protein, getting all my Water in, taking my Vitamin supplements, doing a lot of walking. I agree - results on the scale are a huge motivator. I am very disheartened right now.

I totally halted at 3 weeks and things started moving after that so Its a phenomenon that is totally true! Now, I have two more weeks till my 3 mos so lets hope the hair loss starting at that time isn't true!!!!

Mine loss is also slowing down, but I think it is your body's way of adjusting and agree with someone else that you may still be losing inches instead of pounds at this time. I am trying to stay encouraged not discouraged. I am 3 and 1/2 weeks out and down 34#.

I am 3.5 weeks out also. I lost 27 pounds from my preop diet and 1st week post op. After that first week weigh in I gained two pounds and stalled there for exactly 2 weeks. So I started walking about 1 mile a day... I could see my clothes were fitting better and I was loosing inches but scale did not move. Finally today 3 weeks and 2 days post op the scale went down. If you keep doing what you should do, eat the right food and drink enough liquids the stall will break. I heard of week 3-5 stalls but I experienced a week 1-3 stall.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
