How Long Btwn Submitting to Insurance and Surgery Date?

Recommended Posts

I know it will vary, just looking for a sampling of answers.

How long was it between the time that you submitted to insurance (before approval) to when you had surgery? My understanding is that it can be anything from 2 weeks to several months. Just looking for some real-life time frames.

Thanks!

They submitted my insurance and I had an answer 1 week later. My surgery was scheduled for 2 weeks after that. Time frames will vary for everyone. It all depends on how busy your surgeon is and how many opening they have and if you've done all of your preliminary tests. It was a mad rush for me during those last two weeks which I'm thankful for because it kept my mind occupied and away from thinking about surgery. It seems like it was so long ago but it's only been 3 months. I hope you don't have to wait too long... this is a wonderful life style.

About 4 weeks for me. Having said that, I was told by my insurance provider that they were very WLS friendly. I have sleep apnea, so I had met their requirements for co-morbidity. But years earlier, I had been on a doctor's supervised diet plus my BMI was high enough. So I didn't have to go through as much to be qualified for surgery as some insurance requires.

I am still going through my preop appointments and have not submitted the surgery to insurance yet. I'm pretty nervous of the Insurance bit.

I was approved in 6 days. The surgery was then scheduled for 5 weeks after that. So, total time from submittal to sleeved was about 6 weeks.

12 days for approval from my insurance company. And 3 weeks for my surgery date, only because I am out of the country and wont be home until then. It could of happened much quicker.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
