Discouraged and Heartbroken.

Recommended Posts

Oh, Lisa, I'm so very sorry you are having to go through such a heartbreaking thing. As you already know, my husband died in a fire back in January. Although that's different from losing someone to cancer, the need for comfort in grief is such a powerful force. I have also given in to some comfort eating over these last months. I agree with the above posters...don't worry so much about losing right now, just getting rid of the unhealthy habits. Hugs to you, sweetie!

What a beautiful couple. My heart is clenched right now filled with only a prayer to our Heavenly Father to lay his hands on your family. Kisses & hugs.

Lisa,

I am thinking of you. Do be kind to yourself and take care of yourself. Both for you and your sweet man. I will tell you what my best friend told me: Don't trouble trouble till trouble troubles you. It's hard to not look to future and dread what is coming, but if you can, enjoy what you have now.

If you live somewhere with grocery delivery consider using that to get healthy foods delivered to the house.

Lynda

I'm so sorry for everything that you and Bear are going through! Life is not fair! It's not easy to do the things we need to for ourselves when we see our loved ones struggling. Keep coming on here for support, talking with friends, and anything else you can do to let out your feelings. You are going through so much and need to be able to share it rather then bottle it up and resort back to old habits to deal with it. I know I would need a lot of support if I was in your shoes as I am an emotional eater. I agree that seeing a therapist might also be helpful.

Take care of yourself for his sake because I'm sure he wants you to be happy and healthy despite everything that's going on. You are a beautiful couple! You and Bear are in my thoughts!

The pics tell the real story, don't they? My heart breaks for y'all. I lost a dear friend today to cancer. Seems like so much more of it these days

I love fudge sickles too. I buy the Popsicle brand NO SUGAR ADDED. they are only 40 cals and good. So you can still have them and not feel so guilty. Just try to eat healthy to keep up your strength and energy as well as mental health.

Bless you!

Hugs to you and Bear and the family. One day at a time, that's all you can do. I love the idea Lynda gave about the grocery delivery service.

I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Thank you all so much. I love the support I get here. All of the advice helps me so much.

I had to put Bear in the hospital two days ago. He started vomiting and his labs were all off. Finally after two days he is stable and I will bring him home tomorrow. Just hurts me so much know that itwon't be for long. It is hard to be happy. I love him so much and can't even describe how much that really is. He rescued me from a life of abusive partners and a Dad to my daughter that was never there for her and he became her dad. He really is my knight in shinning armor. The most selfless man I'veever met and now I'm losing him. I'm blessed that I've had him in my life for 11 years. Oh my Lord in Heaven.... this is sooooooo hard! :'(

Thanks again to all of you!!

So sorry to hear about your husband. It's such a tragedy. I can't imagine what you're going through.

My wife lost 2 sisters to breast cancer and is very much worried about getting it.

He's lucky to have you by his side ...

Thank you all for your support. Seems my husband is getting worse. They removed 23 pounds of Fluid this morning and last week he spent 3 days in the hospital. Usually, he feels much better after the parancentesis to remove the Fluid but today he doesn't. He is sleeping a lot lately and he is just skin, bones, and fluid. He is so pitiful. :'( I do everything for him and yesterday after his bath, I was trying to put deodorant on him and I tell y'all he has no tissue between his bones and skin. This is so hard to watch. I never realized it would be like this. God help me and please continue to pray for my strength and his comfort.

God Bless! Thank you.

Dear @@Lisa's Hope, I'm praying for you, your husband and for your family in this difficult time. I won't try to give you advice on how to get back on track. I went through 3 losses in 10 months and it is extremely difficult to overcome something like this. I couldn't even imagine how awful this is for you. Take care of yourself in this time, and if you need someone to chat with I'm here. Hugs!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
