Had Surgery Yesterday. Having bad gas pains.

Recommended Posts

I am walking and walking as much as I can and am still getting bad gas pains. Can I take Gas-X Strips? Just called my doctor but they said they can only connect to the on-call dr. if this is an emergency. I kinda feel like it is an emergency but figured i'd ask here if gas-x strips work. Thanks.

Nope. It is surgical cavity gas, not abdominal gas. What helped me was walking and asking someone to karate chop my shoulders a few times a day. It wil get better each day but it is pretty uncomfortable the first few days. Good luck.

Thank you. It's on my left side, under my breast. It's near the port. It's pretty bad pain. Can barely take a breath without feeling the pain.

Use a heating pad. That helped me a lot. Congrats on your new journey. I love my band.

I totally empathize with you! I agree with the other posts. the heating pad works greatly. Just remember to use one that turns on and off every 10 minutes or so to avoid any other kind of damage. Also, I felt it helped to not curl up. Try to stretch out when you are sitting or lying down. Day 6 was about when I started feeling a lot of relief and others as well, from what I've read. Good luck to you and it does get better!

Yay Cindi!! Welcome to banded life girl!

It DOES get better trust me. I used Gas-X Strips and even though it isn't from abdominal gas it still seemed to help me. It 's worth a try. Yes, the heating pad was my best friend and walk walk walk. Everyone is different but i started to noice it subside by day 4.

Hang in there!!!

Thank you everyone. Had to break down and call the hospital because I got nervous. They said it's delayed inflammation pressing against my diaphragm and that I should take 4 junior motrin which I did and continue my pain meds. It seems to be helping. I think I messed up before though. I had to take 3 of those Calcium chews a day and I took one and forgot and didn't chew it well enough and swallowed a rather large chunk. I can feel it inside my tr. Any suggestions? drink a warm liquid? I'm thinking that it will eventually dissolve but it's hurting a bit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
