this is what I have been eating over the course of a day and its under 700 cal a day and I even feel full at the end of the day:

4 egg whites hard boiled. 0-fat 1-carb 14-protein-66 cal

1/2 cup chic broth Low sod. 0-fat 0-carb 1 -protein -8 cal

2, 8oz V8 less sod 0-fat 22 carb 0-protein - 92 cal

3 oz salmon (gortons) 3-fat 1- carb 16 Protein - 100cal

1/2 cup red salsa 0-fat 5-carb 0 protein 21cal

3.5 tb sp fatfree dressing 0-fat 21-carb 0 protein 105 cal

20oz Protein Drink 0-fat 0 -carb 40protein 160 cal

3oz tuna 2-fat 0 carb 19protein 90 cal

Totals fat=6 grams carbs=48 grams protein=99 grams cals= 647

I also take a multi/vitamin and calcium citrate

This has pretty much been my diet for the last16 weeks with the exception of the liquid stages. I am down 75 LBS in 16 weeks and keeping well below the 1200-1500cals a day that some people say I should be taking. I think it has more to do with where your cals come from than how many cals your intaking.

Madero: I first met with Tamara and talked to her for a while then I asked to talk with Dr Drahn. They told me I could get a fill 4 weeks from the follow up, if you get yours before me tell me all about it. Doc just looked at my incisions and said keep up with the good work, it looked like he had alot of people to see that day. I am eating well I just put 3 oz of Proteins in a cup and fill the rest of the cup with FF dressing chic broth and always about 1 tea spoon of wasabi blend blend blend and chew chew chew and I have been doing just fine. I hope you and your sis are doing well and I look forward to hearing about all the good weight loss.

Dan you are doing fabulous. One question. How do you not get bored with what you are eating everyday. I have to change it up a bit.

So, today is a few days out from being allowed back on "regular" food and I made a disaster decision today. I guess it's all a learning experience. My older 2 kids wanted Chinese food for dinner (very busy day and we had to grab somethig out). I caved and got it. boy, do I regret it. I chewed fine and it went down fine, but I feel so freakin sick now. I feel like I need to go back on a liquid diet for a week to get rid of this feeling. Ugh. I will not be eating that for a long time again!!!!! Ugh..........I can't wait for my fill to feel more restricted!!!!

Dan: Tamara said me and my sis might get a fill in two weeks, not Dr. K. So we'll have to wait and see. I'll let you know. Do you have an appt on the 24th? If so, hopefully we'll see ya there. My appt is at 11:00. Keep up the GREAT work.

All: I have seen Dan in person and he is doing great. He lost a lot of weight before the surgery and is still going strong. I'm sure all of your "well wishes" keep him going too.

huntersmom: I do change it up but mostly with the spices. my fat free dress I either use ranch or Italian it depends of the type of fish and also if it's fresh of canned. It's amazing what a table spoon of roasted red peppers do.

Madero: I don't have a Appt till aug 7th @ 10:00 It's was Dr Krahn that told me the likes to wait four weeks from the follow up before the fills so thats right at 6 weeks post op. They might have made that appt for me because I am back at work now, and I won't be home till Aug4th. maybe they are just going wait till I get back and you will get yours on the 24th.

Hello Junees!!!

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been keeping up. I read the boards DAILY... It's been really busy this week for me, so I've been reading in my few spare minutes using the internet on my phone. So I haven't posted in a while. I have an appointment for my first fill on July 18th--CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

I think that I have figured out that when I am I full I burp excessively!! The only problem is that I don't know when "full" is UNLESS I burp. I don't feel anything..maybe it's because I haven't had a fill. ANYWHO!!

As much as I hate exercising...I have been consistent to meet my July challenge of 3 times a week (30 minutes each time). I've even kicked it up to 40 minutes each time!!! YEA ME!!!!

Nina--thanks for the list of Protein. I printed it and it should be extremely helpful when I start "EATING".

Dan: Thanks for the menu of what you're eating. I know that most literature says that we should be eating 3 meals a day and no Snacks. Are you eating every 2 or 3 hours instead of 3 meals? Did your doc or nutritionalist suggest this?

Hi everyone! I was banded on June 7th! I am doing pretty well, although I have noticed that I can eat pretty much anything right now. I go for my first fill on Monday:) I hope this will help!

lo2us - WOW! I know it must've been painful, but I can only hope for that kind of restriction when I get my fill next week!!

Dan - You are the man! Haha. But I can't eat fish. It's nasty. Actually, I hate most seafood. I can handle grilled shrip - occationally, and I can eat tuna, if I'm in the 'mood' for it, and even then I'm picky and can't eat much of it. I'm more of a chicken girl.

I'm just hoping that once I get my fill that the scale will start moving DOWN again. I'm up about 3 pounds since I started regular foods. (still down total of about 20 pounds though.) Just got home from the gym again. Made the mistake of starting on the tred-climber tonight. 10 minutes and I was pooped. I did manage to do 10 minutes elliptical though, and then did 35-40 reps on 5 different ab and leg weight machines.

And I can't seem to drink enough Water today - as in I've been thirsty ALL day. I feel bloated and water logged. Any advice?

Suzzzie - at least if you're Water logged, you're not hungry! Good Luck with that fill. I'm feeling restriciton tonight, even if I take a big sip of water, but at least that alien popping out of my chest feeling left me! I guess I get to be the lone weirdo that this has happened to on their first fill! WOOHOO!

Y'all hang in there!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
