Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Recommended Posts

Carat2014 hi i had my surgery on May 19 and all of my gas didnt come out until 4 days later I am now 6 days post opt and all the gas is gone and my stomach is starting to shrink . Just remember to continue to walk as well this pushes the gas down and make sit easier to escape the body I also used a heating pad as well to sleep with and relax over my incision sites, today is the first day without pain meds and I am feeling fantastic.

My surgery was May 20th and I am feeling better everyday. Sometimes I think I feel hungry because my stomach won't stop gurgling and churning, but I think this is gas for the most part. I am still on Clear Liquids until Tuesday 5/27 when I go back to my NUT. Then I will get to start full liquids for a week followed by my 2 week post-op with my surgeon and another visit with my NUT. After that visit I will start pureed foods for two weeks and then soft foods for two weeks. By July 1st I should be able to eat just about anything but in very small portions. I had A LOT of nausea for two days post-op and have not taken pain meds except a bit of liquid Tylenol. I don't have much pain except where I had my hiatal hernia repaired, and that is intermittent. It is getting easier every day to get in my fluids. I can tell that the swelling is going down because my sips are getting a little bigger and there is less discomfort whenever I swallow. I am glad to here that everyone is progressing well. I weighed myself this morning and I am already 10lbs down from my pre-surgery weight and it has only been 5 day

I'm happy to report that both my wife and I are recovering quite well after our May 20th surgeries in Tijuana, Mexico. Being from Ohio we had a lot of traveling and have been back home since late Saturday night. We are both moving around quite well. Yesterday we walked around a couple of stores to get a few things we hadn't purchased prior to surgery in anticipation of moving to week 2 and full liquids (our first week is clear liquids). We have a six year old little girl that we missed dearly and were thrilled to see. A lot of worry beforehand but no regrets. Other than my wife having a lot of nausea the first three days and a Migraine the 2-4th day everything went well. We have both lost weight but numbers are unimportant right now. My wife plans to go back to work tomorrow and I am self-employed with this time of year being slow so I can relax a little more, yeah right, that six year old is active!

Same here teemarie1078. I was taking a liquid whey Protein that was low in oz (3.5) but high in protein the last two days. After taking it the last two days I developed the pass through issue. My son who takes protein supplements routinely because of working out said he had read that if you take to much at once, your body can't take it so it'll pass right through. Because I could quickly down a substantial amount of protein in a short period of time, his explanation makes sense though I did not verify. I am switching to a less concentrated Protein Drink tomorrow to see if that is the issue. I've also drank a less concentrated protein drink and that has not effected me so far this evening.

Sounds like 30cc of Milk of Magnesia would do the trick. My surgeon had me do that and it worked within 2 hours.

I went back to work today. I only worked 6 hours instead of 10 hrs like I normally do. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm having a hard time getting in my fluids though. When it goes down it feels really cold then I get a little pain in my stomach. Anyone else feel this little pain?

My first week weight loss was only 5 pounds. I'm a little but disappointed! I'm not sure if this is due to the discrepancy in the scale at the hospital and here at home. Anyone else feeling discouraged?

I'm also having a hard time getting in my fluids. I also have a little pain-it's actually kind of sharp. It doesn't last long, I'm not sure what's causing it though. Mine usually happens when I'm trying to eat something. It kinda feels like a gas bubble, but I don't know. Maybe I'm taking too big of bites? Or too close together? After a second or two it goes away. My post op apt is Thursday, I plan on asking then.

Everyone's diet and Fluid intake seems to be different. That will have a large impact on weight loss. Most of the weight we have been losing has been fluid loss. I wouldn't be discouraged at all if I were you. I bet you are doing a great job.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
