10 days to go and EKG not normal

Recommended Posts

I went to my GP today to get an EKG. This is the last of the pre-op test orders from my surgeon.

My blood pressure was good 108 over 72.

But the doctor said my EKG was not normal.

Beats per minutes were 59 was all I was told. (Which has always been normal for me) He ordered me a referral to a cardiologist for a stress test and told me I could not be cleared without clearance from them. He would let my surgeon know.

I called the cardiologist office and got an appointment to see the doctor for an office visit which they require first on Wednesday. They are not sure they can get me in that quickly for a stress test though.

I am a bit worried. I do not want my surgery to be canceled.

Easy trick cuz my heart rate runs low. When u do another EKG talk during the test a little more to speed up ur heart rate

They have always told me to be quiet during mine.

They made me not talk. I am hoping it will be higher Wednesday.

Well I'm not a Dr , but I have that same problem. Not that this is the answer, but I have large breasts... 42GG. My cardiologist said that sometimes a technician does not place the leads on the right place on women with large breasts. You can look it up on the Internet. Before I had a procedure last fall, my EKG came back abnormal and I had a stress test and ultrasound and they cams back normal. I have my pre-op on the 25th. And I intend on planning for this issue. Good luck with this and hopefully it can be resolved. Look up abnormal EKG with women who have large breasts on the web.

I have to go in the morning and get a nuclear stress test and an echocardiograph. He said my beats per minutes were to slow and off balance.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
