I haven't puked at all. Doesn't that happen when you eat too much, too quickly? Or is it an aversion to a particular food? What do you think causes it? The worse that's happened is a sharp pain if what I'm eating is too hard. I've probably pushed the envelop a few times there (i.e.; Mediterranean food the other night!)

Bluesea,

I think its all the above. I was told if I puked a particular food to not eat it again for a while. I assume its cause our tummy couldnt handle that particular food yet. I do know if you eat too fast you will puke as well as drink and eat at the same time. Reason being because your tummy is already full and cant handle everything at once. Thats why we're told to wait about 30 mins before drinking something after eating.

On a different note, how do you block someone on here? There is a particular user on here that is very sarcastic and cold when they comment on your posts and I so dont appreciate it. I dont want to entertain them so I havent replied to their stupid comment. I mean all of their comments are very short, sarcastic and condescending. Thats so annoying and irritating cause everyone on here comes for help, to vent, and for support. The last thing we need is for some idiot to come at you sideways.

Good morning! I tried tuna and chicken salad. No puking but they didn't sit too well. I think it was the light mayo. I could only eat a few small spoonfuls. I tired egg salad too, same thing :/ I'm trying to stay with more liquids but I want to eat the other stuff. It's tough getting my head and stomach on the same page! Have a great day :) we are close to the 3 week mark!!

Hey ladies, I'm on liquids for weeks 3 & 4 so I can't help there.

A couple of answers to other questions that have come up in our forum or whatever we call this....

1. I got my period 2 weeks early. Never happens because I'm on the pill. Thankfully the cramps haven't been bad but I'm definitely heavier than normal. I think the specific question was if we gained or were bloated....I feel a little bloated, but since I'm on all liquids, I think all the extra fluids I'm drinking has actually helped with bloating. No weight gain as of day one. I guess we talked it up and that's why I started early....

2. I got some advice from you all about the nausea. I tried using crystal lite instead of plain Water and that seems to be helping. I also called my dr because 3-4 hours of feeling like I was going to vomit was way too much for me. He prescribed zofran. Haven't had the nausea since I picked it up so I'll let you know how it works.

But he let me add applesauce to crush up one of my Vitamins in that was really making me nauseous and it wasn't as bad taking it today. I just took really small bites of the Vitamin then a small bite of applesauce to help get it down. He said the calcium citrate was sitting like a rock in my stomach so maybe the liquids wasn't enough to take it with. The unsweetened applesauce was soooooo delicious compared to everything else I've had!!! Made me happy!

Ok sorry for the long post but several things have happened that I couldn't answer until now.

Bluesea - how are you eating the hummus? By itself? Dipping something in it? I can't wait till I can have it. Just wondering what you were eating it with....

Ok so I spoke to a sleeve vet today, she had her surgery over a year ago and also another girl that had it 2 weeks before me. They helped me with my 9 days of no weight loss panic. Our bodies are in shock with the fast weight loss, which I already knew and our bodies are trying to hold onto all those fat cells. It can be so many things, retaining Water etc.

I need to calm down and realize that the weight will continue to drop.

This is a new experience, new life, new journey, new ME that I need to learn to take it slow and let things be.

Sigh...easier said than done.

I totally understand where you are coming from though. I've already had thoughts of how great it feels for this weight to be just falling off during the liquid phase and started wondering how quickly it will stop once I start purees then soft foods and eventually normal foods. So, I think it is totally normal for us to panic a bit based on previous failures....but, they are totally right and we just need not freak ourselves out either. It's so new to us though....so I guess we still have so much to learn. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing, butterfly. It's been really discouraging. I wish we could tell our bodies to use all the fat instead of storing it. That's exactly what I DONT need! I hadn't lost any weight for over a week but saw that I lost 2 more lbs when I weighed yesterday. Hopefully it's starting back but I'm not holding my breath. I'm finding it so difficult to get in my calories and Protein. Eating is like a chore now. I get little to no pleasure out of it. I guess that was sorta the point, but it's very depressing because that was my primary source of pleasure or consolation before the surgery. Very difficult adjustment. Being able to talk and share with you guys has helped though. At least I know I'm not alone!

Mysleeve, I think switching to puree foods has also caused me to stall and the fact that I been constipated for days. Ughh who knows, just got my fingers/toes crosssed that Im not stuck for weeks.

Melodica, trust me being on here has helped me tremondously as well. Reading everyones stories, comments and issues has really helped me. Its like a therapy session for me to be able to come on here and vent or just simply ask questions and for your opinions.

In fact this particular forum is my favorite. I have learned so much from all of you.

I have also hit a stall once I switched to soft foods and have also read about the 3 week stall so maybe this is what is going on? I tried to add in some more cardio (shopping) since I can't really hit the gym until after my first doc appt next Friday. :) maybe more fluids and exercise will get me over the hump! I do know that reading about the other people who have had the stall in losing that it will pass --- just have to have patients! (I have none of course I want to be a skinny bitch hahahahaha)

With such a huge calorie deficit, we are tricking our bodies into thinking we are starving. We go into ketosis where our body starts shutting down and our metabolic rate falls. It registers there are limited carbohydrates and fuel to burn and initially stops everything in an effort to save our lives! That's why that 3 week stall is so predictable and happens to everyone. Our body then starts using up our extra fat storage for fuel. When ketosis happens, it throws off the whole input/output theory. You may follow the program to the tee one week and not see weight loss at all as your body is trying to keep you alive! Eventually it starts to shift and this is where patience comes into play. Slow and steady. The weight will come off. Just focus on developing new lifestyle habits that will continue after this honeymoon phase of wls ends 6months to a year out. Eventually we will be able to eat anything again and as I'm already learning it's easy to rack up calories once you introduce normal food in your diet. Using my loseit app on my phone has been key for me.

Right there with you, Heidi! I've read that people usually stall because they aren't getting enough Protein and I know I'm not but I can't seem to eat enough to get the 96g that I'm supposed to have and I'm so sick of choking down those awful shakes!

I actually haven't had issues racking up calories on regular food, but it's oh so easy to rack up carbs. It's like everything that tastes good is loaded with them.

Hummus. By itself. I would love to have a pita or pita chip to dip it in. Sigh. A girl can dream.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
