I have Cigna. I have to complete 4 consecutive monthly visits. I started in January and just had my last appointment. It is now off to the insurance. My Dr said CIGNA usually doesn't take the 30 days to respond. Good luck!

Very new to all of this, I have my first appt with the surgeon on the 24th. I am hoping to get the info I need for the diet so I can go back to my PCP with it. What does insurance want for the 3 month diet? My PCP will do what ever I need him to do. Do they just want documented weights for 3 months with documentation of dietary modification discussion? referral to dietitian? Do they require a certain amount of weight loss during that time?

@@JacobsMommy it's very possible that your employer's specific Cigna plan requires 6 months while the standard Cigna plan, without modifications, requires 3. I have Cigna and I know the basic Cigna standard plan is 3 months, but my employer (Tennessee) modified the plan to require six months. So I had to do six months, and that was that. I got there eventually though, and I am sure you will too!

I am officially approved for surgery this Tuesday! My surgeon's office had a peer to peer review and went over paperwork. My PCP had recomended surgery in January, so Cigna used that release and recomendation as a start date for my supervised diet...so I got the 89 days. It is now very real!

So far, Cigna isn't requiring me to pay those extra copay fees I've been hearing about; except for the normal $100 copay my insurance require for the hospital stay. Thank God!

I have Cigna open access plus and they told me twice that in January they discarded the three months all together. Here I was excited enough to pee my pants and my surgeon office say Noway I had to do three anyway cause I was sure to be denied!! So I did three months and paperwork in at insurance now waiting for Approval!

Then she dropped the bomb...Friday is her last day and the person taking her place is reluctant to submit paperwork. Pray!! I need a quick turn around before this new chick take over...smh always something

I feel for you. My surgeon and his medical staff were great but his insurance coordinator sucks and she has a tude. While it wax painful working with her it all worked out in the end and was approved by Cigna within 7 days.

Best of luck. ...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
