Got a call from my Surgeon's office changing my day from May 22nd to May 20th. When I got home there was a letter in the mail saying that the insurance only approved me tor 1 night in the hospital. :o That's scary! I am having a hernia repair as well as a lower esophageal sphincter repair and the sleeve. I haven't quite freaked out yet, but I'm on the verge.

I got the same letter from BCBS. I was going to call surgeon's office just to check, but I kind of figured it was like skellertx says. The default is 1 day.

How is everyone preparing? Have you told your friends, family or coworkers. I have told very few people because I don't want anyone giving me added anxiety or reasons not to so it. The people I have told are supportive and that's enough for me.

You guys?

I am also finding it difficult to let people know about my surgery. My surgery date is May 3 and I havent told anyone except my hubby and my mom. Granted I know eventually everyone will find out because my mother couldn't keep her mouth shut even if her life depended on it (lol) but just dont want to deal with all of the judgmental criticism until the surgery is over and done with. In the past when I have mentioned vsg to friends and family their reply is always the same "just work out and watch what you eat", which I find hilarious because I have been doing that for years. Loose gain loose gain ect... all the while being miserable. Either I was miserable because I felt like I was starving or I was miserable because I was eating

and felt guilty over it. I cant wait to have this done!! I am so excited and I really cant deal with anyone stealing my joy, so Im not telling anyone. (yet)

I feel the same way. I already know how some of my friends and family feel about wls and I just don't want to hear the negative remarks before my surgery. I'm already anxious and worried enough without added drama. I think after the surgery i will be out of the closet regarding my surgery. When I'm feeling good and looking good, haters words won't sting so much.

I am only telling a few family and fewer friends because I am self pay and going to Mexico. So, I know people will have their opinions and thoughts but I don't want to hear them. Lol

Good morning all! What I've come to realize is no one understands our struggle, or how we feel on the inside! This move is our last resort on being a healthier and better you! Family, friends and co-workers are going to talk regardless! I don't mind telling them my procedure because I feel like I'm beating them to the punch! People can be so cruel and before you judge me, I don't mind you knowing the truth! You're not going to put me in the category of being on drugs or anything else because my weight has dropped rapidly! I already know this is not going to be easy and when we put in the extra effort to achieve the goals of this journey those are going to be the same ones telling us we look good! So don't worry about what people say, worry about how you feel, and how your going to look for you! May sleevers are live and in full effect!

Hello everyone! I was originally a Feb/March Sleever, but I'm now scheduled on May 7. My surgeon is at a military hospital, so we've had to work around exercises, TDY's, and other unforseen things the military likes to think up. lol I started the whole process last August, so I'm definitely ready to go!

I had my pre-op appt on April 8, and pre-admission with the hospital last week!! Everything is ready...just waiting for surgery! I don't have a liquid diet to follow before hand (besides the day before, obviously). But he has me on a low fat/carb diet now until my surgery. He said to basically do whatever I did before to try to lose weight, because obviously I'm the pro at trying. lol The week prior needs to be more strict to decrease liver size, but since I'm doing what I'm doing now, it shouldn't be so hard.

Everyone has been really supportive. My sister and mom are flying up to Alaska, where we're stationed, to help me after surgery. I've been blessed. I don't think I've really met any negativity about the procedure. I like to tell people I'm having an "he" (high efficiency) stomach installed. LOL!

Nice to meet and talk with you all! :)

Thanks girl!!! If I were having my surgery in US I would tell all because like you said it's my struggle that I am facing. The part I'm not wanting to tell right now is the I'm having it done in Mexico. That's the part I don't want to hear ya know. Lol

When I return and my new way of life has begun then I will shout from the roof tops. Lol

I finally got my insurance approval this week and my surgery is scheduled for May 20. If seems SO far away but hoping the time will fly by. I've been trying to adapt my diet to more like it will need to be post-op but find myself eating horribly about once a week. I think it's the food funerals starting. I did really well during the week and had lost 2 pounds this week and then last night after work ate whatever I wanted (it wasn't good). Are others going they this same struggle? Would love to find people who are anxiously awaiting their May surgery dates and be here to provide support for each other as we start this journey to change our lives!

Im only 15 and im getting the gastric sleeve on may 16th i finally got approved last thursday i was so excited!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
