I would love to be involved in starting and leading a local chapter. In addition to being a very focused and successful WLS'er, I am also an RN. I have worked in cardiac units for five years. I see the effects of weight every day. So, I feel that I have extra knowledge to pass on to others. Plus, I'm very outgoing and have a knack for making others feel comfortable. I'm very organized also.

My schedule is flexible. I'm normally off on Mondays and Wednesdays, but I can change that add needed. I'm also available most weekends.

If someone else in my area is interested, I don't mind co-hosting either.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi. I'm pre-op. Should get my date next week. I'd love to attend and help in any way. I'm a clinical psychologist.

Hi, Lynn! I haven't been very proactive at getting started due to some personal issues. I'm still very interested. I've been trying to come up with places to meet that are not food oriented and private enough to allow conversation. It would be great if it were centrally located in Louisville. Any ideas?

No problem. Clearly there aren't people posting like crazy in here wanting the group to start. Meeting space...well, the library offers free meeting spaces. There are many branches to choose from. Crescent Hill is close to being downtown without having to go downtown (if you were thinking a weeknight) but the Bardstown Rd branch might be the most "central" in the city.

I just moved back to Louisville this week and am looking for a support group to attend. Please let me know if this is happening or if you know of any other support groups. Thanks!

Woo hoo! I'm so excited people are interested. Let me try and connect with leepers about ours. The only other one I know about is this one: Support group at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of the every month in Baptist Health Louisville's second-floor Education Center. Register by emailing BHInfoCenter@bhsi.com or call 502.897.8131

I live in Vine Grove, KY, and I would consider this group, I just don't like travelling with these high gas prices. Would you consider having a group also in Radcliff, Ky or Elizabethtown, because, I would like to help and be a part if that is possible.

Norton Weight Management Center has a support group that meets the 4th Thursday at 630....they have one that meets in the daytime too but I'm not sure when it is.

Thanks...I forgot about Norton's.

I live in Louisville but actually work at Ft. Knox so I could certainly help if there is enough interest for Radcliff/Etown. I'm waiting to hear back from leepers.

Let me know if I can help launch the group in anyway I'm new to the WLS life but will be glad to assist if needed.

Hi everyone! I've gotten some really good ideas about different places to have meetings. Could everyone respond and tell me what days/nights would be good for you? Obviously we won't be able to make everyone happy, but it would be good to have a general concensus.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
