Rate of Loss. 6 Month Weight Loss Metrics For Info/Comparison

Recommended Posts

I'm new and am doing the compare game. One thing I've figured out, just because it says someone lost 80 lbs, it doesn't mean they lost it post surgery. I lost 17 lbs before my surgery so it gives me an inflated weight loss on my ticker. I have thought about changing my starting weight number just so it would be an accurate account of my weight loss. So Miss I Lost 80 lbs might have lost 30 lbs before her surgery, giving her the envious 80 lb loss. I have to tell myself these things. Mental masturbation is about all I'm capable of these days.

You are right. Sometimes people leave out the HW, SW,CW,GW indicators and it's misleading and/or confusing. I totally get counting the weight loss before surgery, we've earned it! But, if one is going to count that loss, they must also count that TIME. They may be 3 months post op, but the weight loss is actually beginning several months prior. It's disheartening when someone says they are 3 months post op and down 90 lbs.

It's good to keep it all in perspective. Comparing drags us down.

I completely agreed time should be added , that's why when doing the "comparing thing" you should list stats. I know it's funny to see someone say 3 months post op down 90 pounds lol. We are all here to help each other that's what this is all about! Everyone is different so to do the comparing can and is disheartening !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
