I've also found myself reaching for food for no apparent reason. More and more I find myself trying to reconcile my "head hunger" with real hunger. I think I will always struggle with this knowing some days will be better than others. But I am also only 9 weeks post op and am still learning about my new stomach, which I privately refer to as Tiny Tum.

Yep - the sleeve can't stop you from putting food in your mouth...You just won't be able to eat as much of it.

I have a sleeve of steel, so nothing bothers my tiny tummy - that's a double edged sword. I can eat anything which is nice, but on the flip side, I can eat anything. Sugar, carbs, ice cream, pizza...ANYTHING.

One thing that helps me when I find myself reaching for Snacks or stress eating, I make a shake or eat a Protein bar. Or I'll go for a walk, even if it's around the block. Just something to redirect.

Shouldn't have most of the hungry hormone come out with the sleeve surgery? So you don't feel like eating all that crap?

How far out from surgery are you @@McButterpants ?

I am just over 4 months post op

In answer to alwaysonadiet's question about hunger - I don't feel hunger like I used to. So it isn't a physical hunger wanting to eat "bad" foods...it's old habits that die hard. I am a stress eater - I've had to learn to control that. Although my life doesn't revolve around food like it used to, it's still a battle with regard to the head hunger - the head hunger won't go away with surgery.

Head hunger and bad habits are the worst. I have good days and bars days. Slow loss but it's ok . I don't deny myself anything . It's usually a couple of bites then I feel it unless it's ice cream. Then my stomach feels crappy after.

i have always eaten out of boredom . i get restless and go to the kitchen. I am working very hard to fight that. thank goodness i can't just go hog wild and eat a bunch of junk. first of all i don't keep all that junk around any more. i am seven weeks and have a fear of stretching my pouch. i hope it's not that easy to do….but not so sure. i've read a lot about people have more than one surgery due to stretching pouch. i don't want to be one of them.

happy losing,

Mississippi Girl

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
