Support from Spouse/Family

Recommended Posts

I want to touch on this subject...

I read so much about it from so many people on here.

Having your spouse/significant other/family SUPPORT is very important for YOU, right?

If we had it our way they would all give us 100% Support and back us up all the way. But unfortunately it doesn't always work in our favor all the time.

Sometimes we need to realize that we must LOVE ourselves first before worrying about everyone elses opinions.

YOU are doing this for YOU!!!

Be selfish for ONCE in YOUR life and do what is BEST for YOU!

At the end of the day, your loved ones will see your success and be happy for you.

And if not, guess what....YOU will be!

Remember everyone, we are doing this for our own individual reasons.

Joining this app has become very therapeutic for me.

I wish you all the best with your decisions, best of luck and a long, happy and HEALTHY life!

"Enjoy reinventing the NEW HEALTHY YOU"

I agree...I only told 2 people my best friend and daughter because I honestly didn't want anyone else's opinion...or negative feedback. Now 50lbs and 5 months later...I am ecstatic! I only needed 60 lbs I'm almost to goal. My BMI was 35.7. But no more blood pressure Med's, little pain in my back and joints, I sleep better, stairs are easier..I love it!!! Great message Jessica..

Very true. Family can sometimes not get the full picture. While some r actually supportive others think they r being supportive by telling us what we don't need to do and the if u would just do these things then you will be just fine u don't need no surgery...that statement I swear I was thinking the next clown that says that to me I'm gonna slap the living dog crap out of them lol. If I didn't need the help of the sleeve and could do it all on my own then I wouldn't be morbidly obese doing this surgery dang it!!! Lmbo people r funny. I've made total peace with MYYYYY choice to have WLS and those who don't like oh well build a bridge and get over it.

Seriously I started this journey totally focused on weight loss but I've learned so much about me so yes I definitely want to and need to lose weight but most of all I want to live FREE!! Free to do what I want, shop where I want, and engage in any activity I want without being limited because of my size or health condition caused by my being obese.

This board totally rock and Im so happy we r all here for one another sharing this journey together.

I couldn't agree more. No one and i mean not a single person in my life felt as though my weight was a big enough problem and they refused to support me at first. However I knew I needed to do this for me whether some one had my back or not and eventually they will come around. Well they did in fact everyone came together to help out my mom watched my two beautiful boys and my fiance never left my side in the hospital. and my close friends came to visit and show their support in numerous ways. It was awesome. They still don't think I needed it but I thought I did and that was all that mattered to me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
