Is anyone having unusual bruising since surgery? I wake up daily with new bruise somewhere on my body. I'm not sure if it is because I'm more active, had more cushion before surgery, or just part of ongoing issue sleeve issue that I will have to deal with going forward. Let me know your thoughts. FYI.... finally under 200 pounds just hit 199 pounds this morning. My next goal is 180 pounds.

Congrats on your loss! I'm dreaming of onederland... :( ... anyway... bruising is a bit common...just like we can't give blood anymore... our levels are different... you need to be taking your Vitamins and supplements, as that will help. I have always been a "bruiser"... and I could never explain what happened; as always, if this has got you up and night wondering, contact your dr., they may want to run a test to see if you have a deficiency that needs a supplement "boost"... good luck!

I have Pernicious Anemia and have always been a bruiser but it does seem that post-op I get a lot more bruises. I'm getting them much more now with my young kids using me as jungle gym but I still get them with no idea how.

RIGHT after surgery it makes sense you would bruise easily. You receive anti coagulants in the hospital ( Lovenox injections) to prevent blood clots. But those are short acting and would be out of your system within days of last injection. You may be low on Iron due to deficiency in diet. Make sure you are taking your Vitamins recommended by your surgeon / NUT. Some will say regular otc Vitamins are fine. ( My friend was told Centrum was acceptable) But I believe bariatric formulated vitamins are better personally. They are designed with higher averages of vitamins for your daily requirement. ( as you no longer get enough through food) And they are made to absorb faster into your system. Best advice is to ask your doctor if the bruises are concerning.

Congrats on onederland! I'm not bruising more, but my bruises are certainly taking longer to go away. I've had some bruises on me for over 3 weeks. I've heard some people say you can "brush" or massage them away but I haven't tried those techniques out.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
