Surgery today. Done and all is well. I'm just very itchy from pain meds. That's it.

Wonderful news!

Surgery yesterday, after a rough afternoon and night I'm better this morning. Yesterday was a lot of pain and nausea.

Walking does help, just ready to get off these machines I'm tethered to!

Hope everyone is doing well. :)

Ugh nausea is the worst. Walking does help but that isn't always what you want to do :-( hang in there it'll be better with each passing day.

I'm 9 days out and still doing pretty good. Today I tried my own Protein Shake using almond milk, whey isolate and 3 slices of bananas. ..... It went right through me, fast! Not sure which ingredient caused it, but I won't be trying that again soon. I'll stick to the food products I'm supposed to be using; however I am almost out of them, mainly because I refuse to eat the powdered cream soup....ick. But I see my dietician and Dr in 2 days, and I'm hoping to be told that I can transition to soft foods.

Surgery was June 5th in another city so I had to stay in a hotel overnight. My daughter and brother were with me. Pain meds mixed with anesthesia left over kept me very pain free. The ride home was not fun for the new stomach. Since then I am still doing the liquid diet until my follow up on Thursday and then hopefully i am moving to puree. Can only handle one Protein Drink a day so far = that and Water.< /p>

The surgery only took 24 minutes! Dr. Curry rocks and my nurse Megan was very attentive and made sure every one understood the after care instructions. Since I have been home I go for frequent walks with my son - just up the road a ways but it helps with any discomfort. Most of my pain/ache is on the left abdomen and my sternum - not like heartburn though - more like pressure,

I have already picked five puree recipes to start my new adventure.

I can't do the nasty cream Protein Soups either. I do worry about what all I'll tolerate when I'm already gagging over stuff.

had My surgery on June 2nd, still some abdominal pain and soreness. Still on the clear liquid diet very tired of Water and tea, I don't do Jello a vegetarian. I see my doctor tomorrow for my 1 week follow up and to see the Nut for my okay to advance to full liquids which I can't wait. Protein Shakes and Soup here I come. I did do some veggie broth and I found that I would get heartburn when I went to bed. It is not bad but yet it is there. My doctor has his patient's on tums two twice a day. Anyone else have a problem or any suggestions

Had my pre-op bloodwork and dr apt today. Now to just wait for the 18th to get here. Dr also confirmed just 2 days before surgery is all liquid diet.

Hope all our sleevers so far are doing well and adjusting to their new lives.

Exactly 7 days post-op for me. Have not had any issues, and feeling great. Down 17 lbs from the morning of my surgery. Sipped for the first two days, and still had the pain / burps, now it doesn't phase me. Kinda getting tired of Water and Mio falvored water, but this is the path I choose. Cooked the family a massive pan of lasagna the other day, when I say massive, I used over 5 1/2 pounds of cheese for that bad boy. Never sampled a bite, not even a quick lick of the spoon from the sauce. Feeling good, been doing everything I would normally do, except lifting anything heavy. Now looking forward to the Phase 2 part of the liquid diet. Never thought I would be happy to have some cream of chicken Soup.< /p>

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
