Any May 2014 sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hi there! My insurance is requiring 10% weight loss before my surgery can be scheduled. I'm at my last 5 lbs or so and I have not been able to lose it. So frustrating! Any tips? I want to schedule soon!!

My surgery is May 15th. Yikes! This is my second. I had a lap band in 2011 that had to be removed 7 months later, so I'm nervous and excited.

I'm scheduled for May 8th. Nerves are all over the place! Been on pre op diet since April 25th, and have lost 7lbs, trying to make it to Thursday, just get lightheaded at times, drinking Vitamin Water zero for electrolytes. "I really can't believe I'm doing this", which from what I've read, goes through most everyone's mind. I pray for all of us who take this bold step! Sending positive thoughts your way!

My surgery is May 14th. My preop diet started on Wednesday and it is full liquids for 1 week then Clear Liquids for a week. I have lost 9 lbs so far. I had to go grocery shopping for my family today and had been doing well but broke down to tears in the store. I felt so hungry. I keep reminding myself that it is all worth it, but I just want to eat. I already feel like a failure. Anyone else out there feeling weak?

Joybell, I am not sure why there are such variety of pre-op diets out there. My surgery is on the 15th and all I am required is to limit my carbs to 40 grams or less, thats not net carbs though. Perhaps they want you to maximize the weight loss prior to the surgery for safety. Of course you have to do what they require and good luck, just 10 more days. When I want to cheat I remind myself that my life depend on It. I wish I had constructive suggestions to help you beside going on YouTube and watching the success stories. Sound like you have lots to live for. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you on the 14th.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
