May 2007 Banders

Great post on what to eat. It sounds reasonable. I'll print it out and hope this agrees with my doctor says. I've been wondering what an eating plan would look like. Thanks.

Thanks. What is the one thing that I should look out for or expect when the term "expect the unexpected to happen"....

Hi guys - just wanted to check in.

I was banded on Monday and felt great. Tuesday, however, was a different story. The pain was intense, lots of nausea and dry heaves, also ran a high temp for about 6-7 hours. I spent the entire day questioning why I'd put my self though this!

Today is much better, all that's left is the pain, which is pretty tolerable at this point.

How are all the other post banders doing? And good luck to the future banders!

I had mine on May 7th -- doing quite well, just a bit drugged on light meds. The weather in Abilene is wonderful for being stuck at home -- heavy clouds, rain, and some thunder. I hope everyone enjoys their experience with the band, as I hope to enjoy it too!

I gotta tell y'all something funny. When i came out of OR - I was groggy as all get out, and they made me get out of the freakin bed for some ex rays w/barium. You know "drink this" -- the stuff that tastes like ear wax? Well I drank it, and they were like "hold this rail that's over your head" so I did. Then they were like "twist" and I did, all the while thinking "am I supposed to be doing this?" then she goes "okay miss williams you're good to go" and I'm like "wait I'm not miss williams..." the nurse goes "OH we're not that far ahead yet -- don't worry she's getting the lap band too just like you.

Oh my freakin geez talk about almost have a coronary on the spot. LOL

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
