Saturday my husband had a stroke and has been in the hospital since then it's been this made it harder to get in my Protein and Water but I'm working on it and I have still been able to walk a little bit just to get my mind At ease. Hi everyone!

So far so good over here. I have no issues with anything-other than the side effects from the Iron tablets. I can say I hate them with a passion. food hasn't been a issue-I can eat all the meats, fish, chicken, pork, turkey, lean burgers. I got fresh crab a few weeks ago and thought I'd died and went to heaven. 3oz never tasted SO good. I get all my Protein and Water in daily-sometimes extra Water as I carry my bottle with me when I walk and sip as I go.

My SW was 245, day of surgery, Feb.12th I was 232 and today I am at 174. So I am down 71lbs . Still really haven't bought clothes- upstate NY weather hasn't been super warm yet. I am wearing 14 in jeans, down from a 24-26. Large to XL in tops. I am happy with that believe me-when I do go shopping- Old Navy is my new best friend. :D My next goal is to get into lingerie at Victoria's Secret! Right now I am a 40C-so when I get into 38C-I get something fun and cute!

I am tied to my Fitbit-I constantly keep track of my walking. My youngest and I are going to do a Color Run in July, it's a 5k that I'll walk since I shattered the ankle 5 years ago, I can't run. Just imagine Igor shlepping along saying "coming master" to give you a picture if I tried. But we are excited about that. I walk anywhere from 2.5 to almost 5 miles daily. This week is on the low side since I am packing up my late Mother's house and getting ready for movers to get it all into storage for me. But I am counting it as exercise as I am lifting boxes and carrying stuff!

Happy Wednesday to everyone!!!

Nell

I'm down 68 lbs since surgery on February 4th, but I'm now starting to loose my hair. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

My surgery was 2/10, SW was 230, as of this morning I was 170. The biggest problem I've experienced is that I have a 30 minute lunch break so there has been a few times that I've eaten to fast or didn't chew enough and when I returned to work the pain was so bad I was practically running to the bathroom. Needless to say it only takes a few times to learn that lesson.

My husband has been complaining a lot about my hair all over the place (I didn't tell him that that could be a side effect) so I would love some advise about that also.

Hi everyone.

SW 310

Current weight 237

So doing great. I can eat just about anything. Still just little amounts. I have been exercising walking and I just got a new bicycle. :) having the same issue with loosing my hair. But I'm not great at taking Vitamins so I figure it was from that.

Had my surgery Feb 3 also, tolerating all foods allowed so far. My old clothes don't fit me at all anymore which is great. I hit ONEDERLAND a few weeks ago and I'm on cloud 9 about it!! My energy is up and its great. I did go through a stage 5 wks out or so of nausea every time I saw or smelled food. It lasted 3 wks and it was horrible. My doctor told me I had what was called food aversion, which is similar to what woman get when you are pregnant and are experiencing morning sickness.... But this was all the time. He said it was quite common. I did hit a low and questioned why I even had the surgery, but my husband is great and pulled me out of the rut I was in. My Doctor said it would go away from one day to the next and eventually it did. Thank God. My family has been great in supporting me and encouraging me when I need it. When I get compliments its so weird for me because I'm not use to it. I just come out and tell people I had the surgery, It's just easier for me than to try and spin a story. Now I'm completely 100% happy that I had this done.

Im glad for all of you that have had so much success. Im wondering what is wrong with me. Why haven't I been so successful? My weight before surgery was I think 283 and now my weight is 236. but I had my surgery on feb 13th 2014. I haven't lost any weight for about 2 months.I fell like Im the only person who has failed at surgery. Im so depressed.

You are not a failure! Hang in there everyone loses differently. Have you noticed any change in the way you clothes fit in the last 2 months? Sometimes when the scale isn't moving I am still losing inches.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
