Post Op March 2014

Recommended Posts

I'm down 23 lbs since surgery 7 weeks ago and a total of 51 lbs since I started the pre-op program. It's not coming off as fast as some, but I'm still happy with the progress I'm making. I'm losing inches pretty rapidly and am down a few pant sizes. All in all, I'm a happy camper! :)

Down over fifty pounds since I went on the liquid pre-op diet in mid-February, with my surgery in mid-March. Like all of you, it has seemed slow to me, but I'm a heavy guy with a lot to lose. Learning to be satisfied with more modest progress. I had RNY gastric bypass.

I feel like mine has gotten really slow. I'm down just over 50lbs but over the past month I've only lost about 12lbs. I know 12lbs a month is still a lot but I was hoping to be around 230 by my trip to 6 flags next month. I'm at 255 now so I don't think I'll make it, but I'm pretty confident I'll at least fit on all the rides.

Just had saw my dr. Friday. I'm down 41 pounds since surgery march 17. Not as much as I would like but not bad considering the stall I had. He put he on a 3 meal a day plan with no snacking. Overall he was pleased with my progress and my exercise regement.

What do your 3 meals generally consist of and how much? Can you give some examples? If you don't mind.

I still can't eat much, only was able to get 3oz of chicken once..lol..I stick to that, fish with some veggies. Breakfast I might have 1turkey sausage and 3 table spoons of egg beaters. I can handle about 2oz of steak if I cut it small and chew well. If I get any cravings, I drink Water or grab a sf Popsicle ...nothing fancy..lol

I'm down 40 lbs since march 24th but my appetite is poor. I'm not eating any Protein and can't stand meat at all. Going to try tofu. I want to eat but can't. Smh I thrive on smoothies but only a couple of sips. Dr. Is aware and just said thats how some people eat. Not liking that answer

So I'm on week 11 post-op, and I'm down 50 lbs. Some days my appetite is better than most. I eat about 3 times a day, or at least try to. I also find that I prefer iced Water, rather than room temp. Occasionally a sf pop. I've not ventured off to juices yet, I tried the Crysyal Lights and found it too sweet. ( a shock to me, I loved sweets!)

I switch up my sources of Protein because shakes are not all that great tasting, after a while. I also use the bars, 35 grams-- the name escapes me, but I love the one that tastes like a Snicker bar! My job entails a lot of movement on my part, pushing and being on my feet. I get my exercise in that way. :-) I also walk more rather than taking the stairs. I was excited about joining the YMCA specifically to take swimming classes, but my cardio recommends against swimming due to a heart condition that was recently diagnosed post op. He also suggests I avoid most rigorous exercises. I will have another stress test in 2 weeks, hoping that goes well. Overall, I'm super happy over my progress! An added bonus is my 4 year old has told me, "Mom you're not fat!" Hey, I'll take it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
