I'm lost! What's next after this?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I began this journey in October 2013, paperwork was submitted to insurance in February, got approval February 19th but didn't get my next appointment with surgeon until March 24th to get my surgery date. My question is this appointment for my surgery date Pre-op? They told me that I will be there all day. I'm assuming that this is my pre-op & final appointment with surgeon before the actual surgery. If it is, then I'm assuming my surgery won't be too long after that, I hope...

Thanks in advance!

I wasn't there so long (maybe 2 - 3 hours), but my surgery was 2 weeks after that.

appointment for my surgery date Pre-op?

w8loser

call the doctors office silly head ;)

they can "probably" answer your question!!!

since you've been approved (so quickly :) ), I would "assume" (we shouldn't really use that word ;) ) that this does sound like pre-op stuff

maybe you will see your NUT also

one whole day does sound like a long time to be their

they might have been telling you worse case scenerio  (maybe telling you not to make other plans, maybe to take the day off from work)

WLS in a couple of weeks??? :o

probably a little nervous, overwhelmed???

some/most/all of us have those emotional feelings prior to surgery

you are on your way :)

starting your new, healthier, happier, longer life :)

i am holding the door open to sleeveland for you

"please come in :) ")

good luck with surgery :)

speedy recovery

kathy

I had to take a 3 - 4 hour class a week before surgery. The surgeon and his staff went over EVERYTHING with you. I even completed the hospital admission paperwork at that meeting. I received instructions of what will happen before, during and after. What fluids and supplies to purchase before surgery, what to bring to the hospital, your eating/liquid schedule etc. etc. There is tons of information they need to go over, I found the meeting VERY informative and helpful.

Call your office.

Sounds like the Pre-op visit to me. Reminds me when my Dr.'s office called to schedule my surgery and the nurse told me when to start my pre-op diet. I misunderstood her and thought I had to do Clear liquids for a week. On my third day I called the nurse and asked her again what diet I was supposed to be following and thank goodness it was the full liquid diet. I've never been so excited to have cream of chicken Soup in my life! We get excited after the wait so when we get the initial calls we sometimes blank out everything that is being said.

You're excited and that understandable. I would just give the office a call to verify what you will be doing when you come in for your appointment.

Best of Luck!

Thanks everyone! I guess I should've mentioned that I did call my Patient Coordinator at my surgeon's office & I keep getting her voice mail. I've even emailed her. This has been the most frustrating part of this whole process, dealing with my assigned PC. She does not follow up the way I wish she would. Oh well, I'm not worried about that anymore. I'm almost there!

If you're expected to be there all day, I would safely say this is your pre-op appointment. You've done everything else, gotten your approval, there isn't anything left to do now but schedule your surgery. Good luck!

...and as Bandista mentioned, this is the exciting part. As much as I hated being on pins and needles, once I got the call for my pre-op appointment it all became real and I can't tell you the emotions I went through that day! LOL

I was at my drs office most of the day the day before my revision. Had to retake he nutrition class (it had been 3 1/2 yrs since I last took it), had my hospital pre op (labs, ekg, registration) and then my final appt with my surgeon. But I think they did it that way cuz I live 3 hrs away and they were trying to keep it easy on me, less travel time.

Just ask when they plan on ur surgery. Easy enuf to do...good luck with ur surgery!

I was never asked to take a nutrition class nor have a seen a nutritionist. Is this required with most surgeons?

Yes, I definitely think that it is. If nothing else, I think it's important for a NUT to discuss post-surgery eating. :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
