Happy Tears in dressing room: Size 22/24 -->16!

Recommended Posts

Hi, all. Quick note for now; I'll have to add to it later. But I simply must share:

Yesterday I thought I was looking good when visiting with a friend. We went to a mall and she (walking slow and behind me sometimes) said, "Damn, girl. You need to go buy some pants!! Those are hanging off your butt, you look like you've got Depends on."

Mind you, they were 'size 20' jeans--with zipper and button--that I could NOT wear 2 months ago.

We went into 'J. Jill's' (which I'd never heard of). We pulled a size 16 pant and I said, "oh no. ain't no way I'm in a 16 pant."

I actually had a moment of [fear? trepidation?], but a weird freak-out/fear moment before I reluctantly relented and agreed to try them on.

What guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo-hooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They FIT!!!!!!!!!!!! I could button and zip them. They looked so good on my @$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We took pictures.

She also took pictures of the back of the pants I was wearing. OMG. I cannot believe how BAGGY they are in the back. I could tell the thighs were loose, but the BUTT--was like empty sacks!!!!!!! I need to post the pictures. Even the sales lady said, "you need to not even wear those pants anywhere. You need new pants, I don't care if you get them from here or not, but do not leave this mall without some new pants...and wear them out of the mall!" My pants are sooooo baggy.

Anyway, I just wanted to share, to just say...you know...this stuff--VSG--actually works. Thank God.

OH!! I CRIED (right there in the dressing room) when I really looked at my thighs, hips and butt in those size 16s!! We then went to Chico's and I tried on a "size 3" pair of jeans. They fit too!!!!!!!!!! OMG. This is really happening. 3 months/ 45 pounds and counting.

I'm rushing; excuse any typos, please. Just had to share!

So nice to hear someone who is so happy with her accomplishments. I was wearing big pants too..until earlier this I went to my closet upstairs (where my "smaller size" resides. ) and tried on size 8 pants. I was also shocked that they fit. Went down from a 16 to an 8. I have a lot of 4 and 6 s that I am aiming to get back into once I lose another 29 pounds. Size is more important to me than my weight. If I get to fit back into my 4's ..whatever my weight is. At that time is now for me to go on maintenance.

Anyhow, ,i just wanted to let u know that I completely understand your excitement. And so happy for u.keep up the good work. You r doing. Great. And ps I love Chico's ........

that's wonderful! it feels so good when something doesn't fit because it's too big. i would highly reccomend you keep those size 20 jeans as long as you live just to remind yourself how far you have come. when I get down or feel like I haven't lost enough or still feel fat, I put on my old sz 18s (which were super tight and barely fit) and it helps me put it all in perspective. I plan to keep them as a constant reminder of how far I've come. I hope you'll do the same

Awesome.....awesome!

I have a shirt that I bought after one of my 3 closet purges and put it on yesterday. I looked like I was wearing daddy's shirt. Another gardening work garment is created.

I thought I was done losing fat...wrong. My weight has actually gone back up to goal but my clothing is larger. I think I am gaining back some muscle that got swept away during the fast drop. My exercise is yet extreme....a promise that I have kept for myself during the years.

THANK YOU, hot guys and gals. I really appreciate this BP board and the "community" here. I also appreciate the support with this moment of sharing. I am so amazed about what happened with the pants.

This weekend, I need to pull out the bins of clothing I've stored and start seeing what I can wear again. OMG.

I have to be on a panel next week. I might need to buy a new suit, because I think all my 16s have Linda Evans/'Dynasty' shoulder pads! It's been that long. LOL.

"Size 14"...? I can't even imagine. It's been so long. But you're right...it can't be too far off. Maybe a couple of months. My goodness. Thank you.

I had this same experience in the dressing room, I cried my eyes out. I went from a 22/24 to a size 16 also and did not believe it. In my head I still was thinking I was bigger. My husband took me out to buy new clothes and I was so reluctant and afraid to try anything on, he could not understand my anguish. It was a weird feeling how upset I was and afraid of what size to try. So that night I bought 1 pair of pants from a store I have never been in before. I was shocked to be in a size 16, but one week later they were to big and I am now in a size 14. Oh happy days. Good luck to you and all of us on this journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
