Just wondering if anyone out there doesn't have to take their PPI anymore? I'm on everyday and night for 3 months. Ugh!

I was only on it a month before my physician took me off it.

At my 3 month visit, My surgeon told me that I could stop taking them. So, I did. Then I realized that I still needed it, like, ALOT. So, I called the office up and the called in a prescription with a 4 month refill!

Hallelujah!

I intend to try to forego them again at a later date.

I took them for only two weeks post-op. None since (almost a year) and have had no problems at all with acid. Everyone's different.

I'll be 3 months march 19th. I was told I only had to take it for three months, but to be honest I'm scared to stop taking it. Don't want issues..

My surgeon had me on 40mg Omeprazole for 2 months. I didn't want to stop "cold turkey", so I started taking 20mg at that point. I'm currently having diarrhea issues because of a colon infection, so my surgeon suggested stopping the PPI for now to try and normalize my system. Been off for 5 days and haven't experienced any acid problems so far.

Looks like I will be on them for quite a while to come. I take Nexium morning and night and even feel I need one mid day.

I feel so stupid, what is PPI?

My dr said I did not need them and he didn't put me on any after surgery. I have not had any issues with acid reflux.

Prevacid. Prilosec. Nexium. Acid reflux medicine. Apparently when your stomach is made smaller you have a harder time keeping stuff down. So medicine is needed. I know I need it and I've never had a problem with acid before.

I don't take any of these at all and never have. I do sometimes have problems when I over eat and at certain times if I try to drink juice or wine I may end up with issues. It comes and goes but I would rather just deal-I think my body can tell me what it likes and doesn't and it keeps me in check.

I think you should take them for the time your physician requires and then take them as needed. There will be times when you will want to have them on hands, even when a mature post op. If you do not have them on hand when acid becomes a problem after you have stopped taking them then a couple tums will provide some quick temporary relief.

I was on omeprazole for the first 30 days post op per the surgeons instructions. Pre op I have severe acid reflux, but between the sleeve and the hiatal hernia repair done during the surgery I have had no acid problems since surgery. 10 weeks out.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
