I would live to know what everyone's carbs amounts are daily as well as calories. My NUT says 15 total carbs a day & 500 calories a day. I am 6 months out and have lost 71 lbs. have 11more lbs. to go to goal. Just curious if I should be getting in more cal. & carbs. Just comparing..

In the beginning I was not eating that many calories. It has only been within the last month or two.

I went to my last pre-op appt today. My surgeons at university if iowa center for gastric diseases told me that just this week they upped the grams of Protein & carbs from 50 each per day to 100 each per day. They said it helps you lose more weight and it is just healthier for you. Kind of scares me after I read on here how people are struggling to get 50 in a day!!!

Also was told absolutely no store bought Protein shakes or bars. Too many calories. They did give me a couple pages of high Protein low fat smoothies you make on your own.

My dr recommends 1200 calories a day and 60g of Protein. After the first two weeks post op he doesn't want people on shakes or protein supplement. Wants our protein coming from foods.

I still drink my Protein Shakes, especially in the morning. I don't eat enough to get in 100 grams from food. What do you eat?

My surgeon set a Protein goal of 100g per day and I have rarely missed it in over two years. But I drink a shake (35g of protein) every day for Breakfast. If you can meet your goal, real food is always the best source of nutrients including protein. But I'm not sure that I could eat enough protein to consistently hit 100g a day.

My doc said you can never get too much Protein after wls. Keep in kind that protein is need for so much in our bodies. If you workout a lot you need more than someone who does not.

I shoot for 104g daily on non workout days. On the days I play soccer I shoot for 130g. I need that extra protein to help fuel my body during games.

I do not drink shakes anymore - I hate the taste of most of them. I use double pasteurized egg whites in my drinks. I can take a sports drink and turn it into a 30g Protein Drink quickly. I do not taste any difference, but some people are put off by the idea. Main thing is that you buy egg white that are meant to be ingested raw. Do not buy the carton at the grocery store.

where do you buy the double pasteurized egg whites?

My doc said they way to tell if a protein drink/shake is look at the calories. There are 4 calories to every gram of protein. So a 10g protein drink should only have 40 calories for protein. If the drink has 300 calories you know there is a lot of added stuff.

I would love to know where you buy your double pasteurized egg whites.

I got them at a local max muscle store. They partner with my surgeons office. However you can also buy them online at https://www.eggwhitesint.com

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
