New insurance and new doctor

I just recently switched my insurance was assigned to a different doctor. I called and made an appointment but the doctor can not see me until may 4th... ahh thats so long :cry. This appointment is for getting approved for the lap band surgery. Anyhow, is there anything I can ask for or something that might get me in sooner than may 4th?
